STEMng Digest: Humans will never learn

in StemSociallast year
Authored by @gentleshaid

The popular saying that "history always repeat itself" surreptitiously points to one thing - that humans never learn. If humans do learn from history, histories don't have to always repeat theirselves, especially the bad histories.

And the popular saying has been proven to be true, over and over. So much so that it sounds more like a theory now, rather than a popular saying. The history of man is filled with several mistakes which we ought to have learned from. But alas, even in the 21st century, we are still repeating the same mistake.

This is a parable. Only the wise can understand.

Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

Losing blood as a treatment, what disease/ illness could it be?
I recently donated a pint of blood along with a friend. While I was specifically told not to donate again until after a few months, my friend was told to come back 5 days after to make another donation. The specific medical condition that my friend is suffering from didn't occur to me until I read our first featuring post for this week. Reading the post will reveal more if you are curious to know more about this medical condition.1.@sperosamuel15:

Could Extraterrestrials Actually Be Artificial Intelligence Beings? - If We Happened To Find Any
I've got and hypothesis (call it a null one). Man's curiosity into other planets and what they contain grew significantly with the development of nuclear bombs. I stand to be corrected thought, but why do you man is concerned with extraterrestrial lives? Well, this post didn't really give hope to the quest. Perhaps we already have extraterrestrial lives in the form of AI? Learn more by reading the post.2.@clinton19:

Going beyond the ordinary (Hiccups Lasting beyond 24 hours).
Everyone must have hiccupped at some points in their lives. Thus, a large percentage of people, including myself, consider it normal because it simply goes away on its own - forget all unproven cures. For the love of me, there's no way I could have thought that hiccupping for up to 24 hours could be a thing. Surprised? Read this post to understand more and see what it could mean.3.@busted1:

The Psychology of Play- Dating
A post that represents a shift from the author's usual theme. They touch on the significance of shared faith in marriages and the tension that can exist in relationships, delves into the modern dating landscape, discussing the impact of hook-up culture, gender dynamics, and the role of dating apps. Ebingo's post draw parallels to Universe 25, a rat behavior study, to highlight potential population decline due to changing dating norms. A good read over a cup of hot coffee.4.@ebingo:

Infantile/Juvenile Glaucoma - Story Time
Every story passes a lesson, or two. A 5 year old boy with an eye condition that could render him totally blind in some years to come is the subject of the story in our last featuring post for this week. What is this condition and does the story has a happy ending? What lesson does it pass? Read the post and leave the author a comment, or two.5.@nattybongo:
