STEMng Digest: Bad leaders don't come from good people

Authored by @gentleshaid

Many Nigerians always point accusing fingers at our leaders as far as the socioeconomic condition of the country is concerned. In their own thoughts, the government is the devil, while they themselves are saints. I am one of the few people whose thinking is not in that direction. I believe that a country where the majority of the populace is bad will always produce bad leaders and vice versa. We need to look inward and fix ourselves first. Otherwise, Nigeria as a country will continue plunging head-on into socioeconomic abyss.

Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest!

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. @eni-ola: Orthorexia Nervosa || When Healthy Eating Becomes an Eating Disorder

Our opening post for this week is about food. Everyone loves food, at least, enough to make them stay alive. The author discussed how many humans may be suffering from a disease known as Orthorexia Nervosa. It is ok to be conscious of what goes into one's stomach. But when you are extreme with the consciousness, it may degenerates into something else.

2.@bimbo45: Save Earth's Water - The Reality of Water Scarcity

Water is quite indispensable for life. No living organisms can survive without water. However, it may seems like what we humans thought to be an overabundant resource in terms of water may not be so. If you are not experiencing water scarcity in your region currently, you may not understand. According to reports, portable water might become a problem in many places as the years go by.

3.@oluwatobiloba: Are Sleeping Pills Safe for Consumption?

Many people have condemned themselves to taking sleeping pills each every day just to get some sleep. This is not a habit that develops overnight, but through consistent use of sleeping peels. In this post, the author shared her experience and echoes the fact that sleeping pills may be good in the short term, but its long term use cannot be say to be the same.

4.@hdigitals: Benefits of Bitter Kola (food of the gods)

This is a post highlighting the benefits derivable from the consumption of bitter kola. Many of us loves the derivable benefits, but the bitter taste will not just make us move an inch near it.

5.@greatideas: Biofabrication Of Artificial Heart: Advancement In Cardiac Sciences

Coming last for this week, and from a new entrant into our weekly digest is a post talking about the making of artificial human heart. we all know how important the heart is to the body and how a good number of humans are currently lying on the sickbed awaiting a new heart. With recent advancement, it seems the era of waiting endlessly for human heart donor may gradually be coming to an end.

And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.

It is very funny to hear about common people making serious plans to get into a position of power, just to get their own junk money and care less about what happens to the country afterward.
Thanks for the mention, these are really great contents, so many awesome content creators over here @steemnakamoto

Everyone is trying to make it at the expense of others. It is a dog-eat-dog situation. You are most welcome.

I am so happy to see my post is featured on the STEMng Digest. I really want to appreciate the brains behind this initiative, thanks. In the case of Nigeria, Politics is a different game entirely. A man who is truthful in his house, will tell his family that him not being truthful outside is just part of the game of politics. I know of a scenario where a politician celebrates two birthdays on the same day. One which his wife and children celebrate giving him a birthday cake with his real age, and the other which the world celebrate with his political age. We need to stop seeing politics as a game but as part of true leadership towards the people.

Yea. Good to see that some authors stick around despite the bears.

Thanks for the reminder, @gentleshaid. I just read the article about water scarcity and hope to read a few of the others later.

I agree about good government...that is true for Nigeria and every country (I"m thinking of my own stressed country at the moment).

Seems every country is stressed. This post-covid world is going to be tough a bit. I hope the world gets healed quickly.
