This is also applies to our health, the way we feel atimes and the psychological effects that comes out with it always come from the mind.
Take for instance, when I was growing up as a child little did I know that some of the sicknesses or diseases we suffer today In our life may not necessarily be that we are sick.
Then I use to have this phobia concerning being sick. I often fell sick more especially when my elderly one's are sick. If you look at it critically you will find out that my own sickness comes as a result of my siblings being sick.
This to me comes from the mind. I could remember the day I went to hospital for a particular ailment, then I was feeling some kind of vibration in my entire body more especially in the leg legion. After some examination by the doctor, he termed the disease psychopathic. I tried asking him what he meant by that, the only answer he could give me is to issue out drugs promising me that I will get better.
One week later, I discovered that the drugs was actually working, little did I know that the the acclaimed drug is a placebo.
Waooo, aren't it surprising!
By now your mind may be going through different dimension what this placebo is. Anyway let's quickly go down
¶placebo
Placebo is an inactive treatment that is sometimes called "sugar pill". It comes in form of tablets or in a pill form. The only different between placebo and real drugs is that real drugs contains active ingredients why placebo don't.
Haven understood this. Why then do you think placebo is useful since it is not a drug. Placebo definitely is not a drug, it is more or less like inactive substance, some persons experience a benefit after an administration.
It is also a drug look alike substance that works with our mindset thereby making us to feel relieved when taken. This seems more confusing but that's the fact
Take for example a man who often takes pain relief pill to relieve himself from headache. If a placebo designed exactly like his pain relief is being given to him, you will find out that the man will still feel the same like when he takes his pain relief. this is because his mind has been program to do that.
Considering all this things and how placebo works, it is high time we talk about how this inactive medication plays a role in our body.
Placebo triggers a release of a hormone called
endorphins
Endorphins works in line with morphine and other related pain killer.
when feeling pains in any part of the body placebo taken triggers this hormone called endorphins thereby making you feel relieved from the pain you are passing through. Apart from this, placebo also can work with someone's
gene
Some persons are actually predisposed to respond more to placebo depending on their gene. A particular study finds out that there are some people with a gene variant that increases the level of brain substance called dopamine.
This substance called dopamine are more prone to placebo effect.
This shows the healing power of placebo yet inactive.
Haven gone this far concerning placebo. I think we should also look into some benefits and positive effect of this inactive substances by taking a good look at this
The placebo effect has been found to impact people with major depression disorder. In one study, participants who weren't currently taking any other medications were given placebo pills labelled as either fast acting antidepressant or placebo for one week. After the week, the researcher took pet scans and told the participants they were receiving an injection to improve mood. participants who took the placebo labelled as an antidepressant as well as the injection reported decreased depression symptoms and increased brain activity In areas of the brain linked to emotion and stress regulation.source
As you can see above, placebo is also known to cause an improvement in some individual having depression.
conclusion
Following with what we have learnt from this article. It is so obvious that most diseases we think we suffer today comes from our mindset. Taking drugs which we all know helps us during illness, can only work perfectly if only we are convinced within ourselves that it will work. Placebo we all know is not a drug but it plays a role of a drug depending on how our mindset are being programed. So for that reason I will end this article by saying that our mindset is a major factor to our healing ability.
Thank you for raising awareness about this very important and determinant factor!!
And not only placebo.
I’m our times we all have witnessed how mass psychosis is created by just some “specific way” to broadcast news - and manipulate people’s perception.
What ensued as a “pandemic” was the NOCEBO effect after repeating in the news horrible things, hopelessness and the whole list of symptoms that people started manifesting in their experience out of fear and faith in whatsoever is fed to them through mass media and governmental propaganda.
Very good post! Thank you!!!!
Yea! You are really on point. Nocebo effect is another angle that have actually affected us. Thank u for coming around
It’s a delight to read wise people!

The Mind has always been something of a double-edged sword. Playing many times in favor and perhaps more times against human welfare. However, and in the light that Neuroscience is giving us, our brain is able to program itself positively again and maintain a more specific control of our mind. The formation of good habits or the change of the current ones for different habits, according to the positive of each particular case, should become a very powerful tool as far as the mind is concerned. Perhaps, in the not too distant future, science will be able to find out more about how to better educate our mind and play for our team. Thank you very much for sharing such important knowledge. Mind is actually a double-edged sword. Like you said, I am also believing that in future science will be able to find more. Thanks for coming around

Thanks for this nice article. One item that is maybe missing concerns the usage of placebos in clinical trials. They are very important to assess whether a given medication brings really something good (compared with doing nothing).
Yea, that's true talk. It is mainly use in clinical trials.
Thanks for the correction.
You are welcome. Note that it was more a suggestion than a correction. ;)
