Centipedes are usually very good predators and earthworms would be easy prey, when there are many centipedes it can be good to control them as you did, but there is also the inconvenience of them entering the house. In my garden there are many small ones, the one in this post is the biggest I have seen, in my case I left them alone because they help me control insects like cockroaches .
