Hello Hive
Dry seasons comes with scarcity of water in my neighborhood and we need to have more plastic items for keeping water
My mother has often said that your needs and kind of jobs determine what you stuck your house with.
She wasn't far from been wrong.
Looking at a situation where a young bride is recently married, she can manage to keep glass plates Cups and other items.
But in a home with children, all of the glass wares won't be much needed as children can be careless with these items and at incidents where these glasses break they can cause domestic accidents.
What really took me to the market was the need for this plastic buckets
During the dry seasons here, there is often water scarcity and we have to walk some distance to get well waters.
All those who are well to do in our community built only personal boreholes and since the government had not provided a portable one for this community, we suffer for lack of water.
I needed the help of my younger siblings with this fetching of water and since they are still young to carry heavy gallons I decided to stop by the plastic store in the market go get these rubber buckets of average size they can use to assist me in fetching water.
Not minding the expensive amount of these products I bought two plastic buckets for $4
I love fresh foods and as soon as I saw this spring onions which is sold usually at this season, I bought some and along side other items before leaving the market.
This is my market Friday experience for this week, I will like to know the kind of items you have in your house hold and kitchen especially.
Ceramics, glasswares or plastic like mine?.
It's interesting for me to learn how life is like there. I'm fortunate to have running water and we use ceramic plates and glass cups. I have 5 kids, but I definitely understand how they break things... been through that around our house. We have farmers markets but mostly we have grocery stores with tons of varieties of food. Our worlds are different but our needs are the same.
Kids with breaking things, I can imagine 😂😂.
Our needs are indeed the same and you are absolutely right with that
I have a big drum always filled with water incase anything happens even if we have steady power.
I have mostly glassware and ceramics too.
Big drum for only you... Then its like we will need like 5drums in my house since we are many..
Though I prefer ceramics to glasses
Oh man I can't imagine having to walk so far carrying all that water. It's awful that there aren't more wells for everyone! I'm glad your siblings are able to help. I was my mom's helper carrying groceries home (and I still do for myself) but we didn't have to do that every day!
I love how the onions are all stacked on the platters, it's so pretty.
My kitchen is all a mix of different things that I got at different times. Some plastic, some ceramic, and some glass. I used to have more plastic but the local Food Not Bombs group who feeds people in the park downtown posted that they were looking for plastic dishes to use, so I gave them a bunch that I had. I still have plenty of dishes since I am just one person!
I think I am lucky enough to live in a house that has a borehole because the water issue is everywhere right now especially with no light.
A house with borehole and a shower..
Very important.
