A small, colourful market

Last weekend, when we went on our unplanned short excursion, a small colourful market also crossed our path. In the city of Torrevieja, close to the harbour, we saw a passage with stalls. Actually, they looked like connected series of stalls, all in a row, and covered by one long roof.

The first stands were not that interesting, I just thought it could be a usual market, selling all those boring stuff you can find in any corner. You know what I mean, items like decorative magnets, sunglasses (of unknown origin), bracelets, towels, hand fans... souvenirs for tourists. In my view, these items do not have any added value, (apart from being a gift or travel souvenir for someone visiting this city and area) because they can be bought literally everywhere.

However, it was just the beginning of this market that brought me that feeling, of an uninteresting market that will not bring any valuable items to offer. I did see some nice stuff. For example the colourful wicker baskets and vessels.

I liked these that had a lid, though I don't really have a lot of free space in my home anymore where I would put them. I imagine them in a bigger house, in one corner of the floor, storing some small items you don't want to get lost. Or playing the hiding game, where you would hide something and the other family members should find it. Even storing in them more valuable items, as if a thief finds himself in your house, he might not look for treasure in these decorative baskets lol.

Unfortunately, the majority of the stands (or call them small shops?) were closed. I am not sure why... maybe they open in the afternoon and evening when more people and tourists walk there. It was still before or around noon we passed here, so according to the Spanish timetable, it was probably too early.

DSC_5555.JPG

Not a great one, just belts and scarves, several bags and of course, sunglasses, again!! Interesting fact, it is recommended (but not mandatory) to have a spare pair of sunglasses in the car. Well, at least here in Spain, don't know about other counties. Maybe that's why I see around so many stands with that item hahah.

Now, this IS something that I like. Leather bags. Especially those smaller ones are cute and my favourite ones, but also the wallets, key chains and coin purses are pretty. One of my good friends, that visited us many years ago bought herself a purse, with carved decorations on it. She still has it and it remembers her about the travel to Spain. She bought it in a similar market, one evening while we were walking by the sea.

DSC_5558.JPG

Not funny!!! Again sunglasses?? 😂

DSC_5554.JPG

Strawhats are very useful in Spain, as protection from the sun. The elder generation use to wear them, and children, but those small ones usually have rag hats. I have to confess that I don't wear any hat as sun protection while walking around. I hope there are no (major) consequences. Or? 😜🤣

DSC_5556.JPG

Time. Why do we have to measure time? It anyways passes so quickly, a day doesn't have enough hours and a week doesn't have enough days, and life doesn't have enough years. Maybe to remind us to live with more joy in those moments we have in this world? I would go with this answer, as otherwise, we would just stress out from seeing time going too quickly by us. The lady selling these decorative clocks maybe thinks similarly, having joy in making and selling them.

DSC_5562.JPG

Two very colourful stalls, with hippie clothes and even dresses for babies. Really liked the selection they had, but my attention was caught by these tiny-people clothes. Sweeeeet!!!

Oriental items to bring more colours to this market walk...

DSC_5561.JPG

African-style wooden decorations? Look how cute are the giraffes. My veterinarian friends have in their home a whole display of wooden animals, made in a similar way. But their collection is wider than this stall.

DSC_5560.JPG

Aladdin also came to see his lamps here. Or maybe it was just a local seller, I didn't talk to him. The oriental lamps were hanging in this almost last display I visited. Soon and we left this colourful market, which was not that small, but because of all the closed stands, it seemed like a modest one. Practically, it was all that I saw here, but I do think that it was the part of the day that made the sellers don't open until later. The afternoons and evenings are much more active parts of the day in this sunny place in the Iberian peninsula.

Enjoy your Friday and the whole weekend :))

While I was looking at the very attractive displays, I felt like I it is in my place but it is actually in your amazing place my friend. Perhaps we also have a lot of stuffs like that here and we call it as ‘Tiangee’, a store or just a table display that can be found easily on streets. How I love the souvenirs too. Happy Market Friday!

Maybe as it was colourful, so it looked similar to those you have at your place :))
Usually, we have this kind of street market, but with separate stalls during the summer, and just in the evenings in my town. This was in a city I visited last Saturday, and as it is a bigger one than my town, I guess there are also more tourists and more need for a market during the whole day/whole year.
Happy Market Friday to you too, and have a great weekend @pinkchic 🤗

This so amazing. When I would be here, I think I will be buying a lot of souvenirs as gifts for my friends when I come home in Ph, hehe. But just an imagination. The place too is not crowded although this is a market. Have a nice time my friend and take care.

You would need an extra suitcase for the gifts and souvenirs 🤭

I think it’s was too early for you too be there. The streets were literally empty and I don't remember seeing anyone in your photos.

Well I think I didn't like most of the things; as you said they were boring. But in the 10 I think the 12th pictures I liked the items there. They seemed to be creative and out of this world for me. The 12th picture made me remember the gods(smaller), like the ones some people worship here in Africa but theirs are mostly built with clay.

I hope one day I can also go on these short and unplanned trips and have a vacation with my sunglasses😂

Yes, I think too it was just too early. People usually go out the take walks in the city and the promenade in the afternoon and evening.
Oh, those figures in Africa are made of clay? Sounds interesting too. I saw here just these wooden figures.

I wish your dream can come true, and yes, take a lot of sunglasses with you :D

Yep In most cases they are made of clay. The only instances where you don’t see them in clay but made of wood is when they wanna sell it to tourists.

Yep I do hope so. But I will want it to be super short and fun. After all there is not place like home 🥰

Wooden figures are probably better for tourists to carry in their suitcases. Can't break that easily :)

Yep and it will be easier for them to store when they get back to their homes. It wouldn’t break easily when it falls.

Exactly 👍

Lol that is very good thinking about hiding valuable items in the straw plates. I know for sure if I was a thief, that would be the last place I’d look.

Do you see that guitar and music-themed clock on the left edge of the clock shop? I think you would’ve really liked it if you did, since you like the piano and music. Not really a piano, but all the same.

Hiding valuable items in some ordinary places is risky but also misleading :D
Who would search for them in a decoration basket? Well, maybe the experienced thieves.

Yes, I saw the guitar and musical notes clock, but I didn't buy it. There were also two other musical-themed clocks... Those with the boat were cool too.

It's interesting to see the rows of booths (we call them "kiosks") neatly lined up on the premises, with a wide variety of items being sold. I like to see photos of stalls selling leather bags and wallets, the models are very nice and unique. if i was there i would definitely buy it hehe 😅

But if I look at the photos, the atmosphere is still very quiet at that time, why @mipiano? Btw, didn't you buy something while you were there. Happy friday 😊

Oh, yeah, kiosks, I completely forgot that word. 🤦‍♀ Thanks for reminding me.
The leather bags are so nice, indeed. Although they have some nice prices too hahaha (but they are worth the money)

I think that it was quiet as it was before noon. Usually, there are more visitors in the afternoon or evening, it is somehow the rhythm here in Spain in tourist places.

Happy Friday to you too and have a good weekend @abizahid 👋

The items displayed look similar to items displayed in our place when there is fiesta celebration or night market. I like the clock. I'd propably buy one.

Then I see a lot of similarities in our places. Fiestas and evening market displays are popular here too :))

hats and baskets are very beautiful, very colorful market, thanks for sharing

I also liked the baskets, and maybe even more the colourful hippie clothes :)
Thank you for stopping by @tuba777 , may you have a nice weekend 😎

Thank you 🥰

💜💙💚💛 thank you @ewkaw 💜💙💚💛

Great place to spend money😅, But here is the rainy season now, the most sought after by buyers is clothes, including me, I have run out of dry clothes😁

Success is always for you ma'am

Hahaha, it is funny but also not funny if you are running out of dry clothes. 😁
How much time the rainy season lasts for? I hope a bit of sun can help, at least sun sent in this digital world 🌞

Yes, it seems that this will be a disaster for us, the entire rice field has been submerged by floods, even in some areas the residents have to evacuate, and now it is also raining, I don't think it is enough to just buy clothes this time
😅

Oh, no... I am sorry to hear such news. :(
But I hope you and your family are safe!

Thank you very much ma'am🙏🤗

Hello ma'am, may you ask a little bit, what are the things that can be posted on ocd, because I haven't found a home to write my post

Hm, depends on what would be the topic of the post. In OCD community you should publish just the posts that don't fit any other niche. I suppose you checked the post written by @erikah where there is a large list of the communities and niches. If not, feel free to check it out first, it can be helpful regarding your question.

Thank you very much ma'am🙏💪

It didn't turn out as badly as it did at first; the baskets or the decoration that are similar to those in the first picture, still think it only looks lovely in shop windows because it attracts a lot of dust. :D

I'd probably stick to vintage lighting (I'm currently looking for one), but how could I refuse a leather bag?

Still amazed with the amount of colors...

Yeah, not that bad at all :))

Hahah, true, they attract a lot of dust. Dry flowers for decoration too
And you remember all those displayed figures our grandmas had? That is also a lot of work to clean

Vintage lighting... hmm, candles would work too, especially with the price of electricity 😅

Ohoo, that's an interesting market. You can really see a lot in there. I also like those leather bags. It's pretty. We'll only have this kind of Market here in our place when it's fiesta as we have a lot of stalls with different items.

Anyways Happy Weekend!

In my place too, mainly just when it is fiesta or in the evenings during the summer. This market was in a bit bigger town than mine. Happy weekend to you too :))

Such great place. Markets like these are of my favorite places when I visit a city as a tourist. There's a lot of interesting things to find there. I would imagine a basket like that with a snake inside and making the musical act of making the snake dance. Think about it. #MiPianoSnakeTamer 🤣🤣

Sun glasses are useful in plenty on countries where the sun is a problem. So I agree on having a spare in the car.

I stopped using hats when my hair grew. My hair is my hat. 🤣🤣

And well, we went deep in the time theme. Are you feeling the dread of age breathing on the back of your neck?

With a snake? And me the tamer? 🐍

Hahahha, I just HAVE to write now this:

Keep calm and tame a snake 😂😂

Sun. Practically all year round, so indeed, I do have them almost always with me.

Are you feeling the dread of age breathing on the back of your neck?

Very funny.

NO comment to your comment

lol

Ha, ha, ha, ha. Your friend bertrayo giving you ideas for content.

And yes, the sun is a thing. However, we are experiencing a lot of rain lately.

Well, there's no comment on that. It just happens. 😂

well, I could tame just a toy snake hahaha

(had one soft toy, a snake, a long time ago, when I was still a child. I guess it doesn't exist anymore 😢

I guess that's also true. You could make one. Show us those handcraft skills I know you hide.

You don't want to see it... believe me 😂

It would be...hmmmm... a disaster 🤣

Ha, ha, ha, ha. Noted. xD

Keep Calm and Play the Piano

I love visiting these markets.
In the bazaars there are interesting things that you will not see in stores.

Great photos!

Thanks Ludmila for coming with me to this market :))

Aw wow! Such beautiful colours and amazing hand made goods :) it kind of reminds me of my last time I was in Poland, as the markets were huge and wonderful!:) I haven't been back in Europe for quite some time, but I will soon :) the markets in Thailand and China were wonderful when I was there about 4 years ago!:)

I can imagine that the markets in Poland and bigger and more interesting.
Super for soon visiting Europe, @sunsethunter 😃

Nice place, I like the item for sale are antique looking handicraft. Thank you.

The city where I visited this market was ok, not very special but nice.
Thanks for stopping by.

Very nice!

Thanks :)

🙏😊🙏

What a great market indeed! I really love all the items and the colours. They are so attractive and very appealing to the eyes..♥️ I would rather spend my money here than other stuff. Thank you for sharing ♥️🙂

I am glad you liked this market :))
And I understand you, I would also spend some money on some stuff, especially leather bags and colourful clothes, but we just passed by , I didn't buy anything that day :)

Saving mode 😅

Wow this is top-notch ❤️ 🥰 if not that I'm in Nigeria i would have come and buy one or too things. But then i love it all it is so amazing 😍🤩.

Hey there, thanks for stopping by, I am glad you liked this little market 😇
If teleport would exist, it would be easy to come from any place on the world 😀

¡Hola! @mipiano me encantó tu paseo, me sentí yo recorriendo esos lugares, ver tantas cosas lindas y divertidas.

That's a nice market..and those baskets are colorful...

They are!

(Khm, seven days passed from your comment to my response 🤦🏻‍♀️, so you probably don't remember what you commented. {The colourful baskets}. Sorry, missed to come back to some of the comments during the week. Finally, it's weekend, so I am slowly catching up the backlog 😁 )

Have a great Sunday @jane1289 🌟🌟🌟

Hehe. It's fine 😊. I also sometimes missed reading some comments in my previous posts. Happy weekend and you can now enjoy playing with your piano hehe.

Omyyy I love the hats and the bags. They look ancient but durable.

The bags were my favourites too :)
And yes, there were some hats that looked ancient hehehe

The shop is really well organized, I like the hat shop because it is the rainy season, we can wear some rain gear.

Rain season... I hope it will pass soon and you will stay dry, with or without hats 😊
