Market Friday| Strolling around Alcantara public market to look for something to buy with my 100 pesos (1.95$)

I am glad to find this wonderful #Marketfriday community inspired by @dswigle.

Today is Friday and it's a market day for all the residents of Alcantara.
The municipality of Alcantara is located in the 5th class of the municipality of Cebu, the Philippines with 9 barangay including my birthplace Candabong where most of my family and relative lives. Every Friday they have this tabo a local word for taboan which means marketplace where people gather to sell such as goods and other merchandise.

Even I'm living in the next town now I decided to take the Alcantara market because it was their Tabo days. We went there this morning to sharpen a saw so my partner had the saw to sharpen and my apology for not taking photos. I ask him to separate ways so he can do the sharpening while I roam around the market and take 100 (1.95$) pesos with me to see what can I buy with the money.

So lets roam around.

Before I reach to the market I can see this group of people bargaining their livestock such us goats, pigs and cows and most of them are chickens.

As I enter the place entrance I saw on my right side those tobacco leaves with likin (some kind of blackberry leaves) used as cigarettes alternatives. Next stalls were tools merchandise, you can see a lot of sharp bolos and sickles and other stuff for tools. On the other side was this line of fruits and vegetable vendors. They were placed here every day temporarily because the main stalls were under renovation.

I continue to walk to another side now I see my all-time favourite pasalubong(present). Whenever my grandfather go down town every Friday before to buy stuff he will buy this bingka for us to share with my cousins. (Such a lovely memory for our beloved grandpa.) Other from bingka they also have bud-bud (sticky rice cake) and many other kinds of sweet foods you can buy from there.

I'm taking the passageway to the other side of the market. Here you can see toys and clothes for kids.

In this sides of area are those peasants selling their harvest every tabo days their products are so beautiful and fresh, you can even ask for a low price if you will purchase them in bulk.

After roaming around to see the final stuff I would like to buy. I decided to go back to the other side because I'm planning to buy fruits instead.

Here I bought just two pieces of orange and two pieces of apple for 10 (0.9$)pesos each a total of 40 (0.78$) for Apple and orange. I also bought one seasonal fruit which is the lanzones for 30 (.58$). The next stop was in the vegetable stall I was just asking for the price but then the vendor hurriedly put some beans I ask to a plastic. Rather than putting it back I just buy her 250 grams for 30 (.58$) pesos for the total of 100(1.95$)pesos for all my purchase. Imagine before the typhoon hit us bean are just 50 pesos per kilo but now it's 120-140 per kilo it's almost tripled by it original price. Actually, you can see more merchandise when you roam the whole Alcantara other from the stalls provided some are displaying there products on some side of the road.

I meet my partner at the parking area so we went home after and see what I purchased. I was laughing seeing the lanzones fruit I bought for 30 pesos. I counted the fruit and it was only 10 pieces it seems like I'm buying 1 piece for 3 pesos🤦‍♀️. I should have bought apple or orange instead but it's okay they're all very sweet so I'm just happy with what I've bought. As of this moment, almost everything is expensive we just hope for everything to go back to normal asap.
