RE: Making it Merry for Market Friday

Of course I want to be on the list. I mean, you don't have enough to do yet ! LOL Can't believe you give them away and haven't tasted one yet. What kind of cook does that ??? Funny girl !

Well... you know, almonds are the new peanut. ha ha ... don't you like how everybody does that?? Thing is, because it is so plentiful and cheap, that is what is happening and not only with Walmart fruitcake. You know, before I added to my grocery list (that one and only time!) I noticed it was cheaper and just thought Walmart was putting on a deal. I didn't notice it was 4 ounces smaller, so when it got here, before I tasted it, I thought that must be why. Then when I opened it, I saw something weird... what ?... what is that?... and of all things, there in it's compacted little self was slivered almonds. Still had a few pecans, but less than normal. As you can imagine, the flavor was not the same either. You can't change something and keep it the same quality like the industries like to pretend they are doing. Whodathunkit ?

They are not the first though, I rarely eat cereal as an adult, but some years back, something my brother said caused me to try Banana Nut Crunch cereal and I thought it was delish. Nice flakes, big pieces of english walnuts and big granola clusters. Even though I loved it, I probably didn't buy it more than once a year. Everything was good for a while and then one year I bought it and... something wasn't the same, it didn't taste as good and ... let me look a little closer. Nuts are there, but barely any english walnuts, but almonds..... almonds??... What tha??? More almonds than anything and the once nice fat crunchy granola clusters are small. They took a perfect, popular product and ruined it. I also noticed at some point that mixed nuts, even deluxe mixed nuts had loads more almonds now, so I guess the industries think we won't notice. I know almonds are good for you, for real.....

Ok... time for coffee and making a pile to go to Moms. Hope you're having a good day.

Oh yeah we are in cookie land this morning. I crawled into bed at 4 a.m. and got up way too early. I forgot that you're having afternoon with your mom. I hope you have a good time and give her a million hugs for me. This is going to be a hard year for her. I'm sure that you will make it merry. Just don't give her some of that klaxton faux fruit cake! I have noticed the predominance of almonds and everything that I eat that has nuts in it. That is crazy because almonds do not equal black walnuts or English walnuts or macadamia nuts or anything for that matter. They're freaking almonds! I like almonds occasionally on their own and slivered almonds in a recipe that calls for it. But I don't feel crazy over it. It has almost turned me against them.

I didn't taste the finished product Oh, but I did taste the batter. The finished product usually melds their flavor for six or seven weeks. It doesn't taste the same as when it's first done so it wouldn't make a difference. Besides that, I wasn't eating sugar at all then. Imagine that no sugar? It's true.

Alexa is singing in Gloria from the background and all things from Christmas choirs. It's a beautiful day out today with the sun shining and milder temperatures then it has been in the last 2 days. My sister called this morning, video chatting to show me just how much snow she got today. Snow! How perfect is that? Christmas Eve and it's snowing. Some people have all the luck. I want to thank you my little elf friend , Soul Sister for being here always. I hope you have a nice day and they very very Merry Christmas. Love to you! 💖
