FUN ON THE RUN: There is a something very funny/odd about ONE of the pictures I am going to share. hehehe
I'm a happy kind of girl! I just love to smile and giggle and connect with others! So this month, I'm feeling very bouncy, cuz dreemers get to descend on Market Friday with another happy bouncy kind of girl - my sweet friend, @dswigle!
Now, I know I set up the darn rules for the DreemPort/Market Friday challenge - so you'd think that I would be able to abide by them! LOLOL
But no... no no no. Rules are apparently made to be broken when the following 2 things are true:
- You live 90 minutes from the nearest grocery store and
- Gas is $7 per gallon in California. LOL
So - I'm sorry!! I am still TOTALLY participating and I'll do my best - but I was NOT able to talk to any owner of the store this week *(cuz I actually didn't shop this week! LOL) * But fear not!!!! I DO still have pictures from ANOTHER time when I went to the store recently! hehehe
So here we go!
Hands down.... THE MOST EXPENSIVE thing in the store... hahaha ARE GLUTEN FREE ITEMS! lol
and I will show you the proof! haha
Normally, you can get a loaf of bread with about 20 large slices of bread in a loaf - for about $2 ! But if you are gluten free? The loaf is about 10 slices, and the bread is HALF the normal size - for.... take a look...
ALMOST $5!!! That is more than twice the price - for 1/4 the amount of bread! So you're paying 8X the price when all is said and done! It's really tragic! hehehe People with dietary restrictions pay a lot more to eat "normal" hehe If you take a look at the rest of the items there - its the same! Cookies - you only get about 1/4 the amount for the price you would pay for normal. Same across the board! Those are all very small boxes of crackers and treats.
MORAL OF THE STORY... Eat things that are naturally gluten free, and only splurge on the treats every once in a while - or better yet... make it yourself! It will be fresher, tastier, and less expensive! 😋 (I sure do miss being able to eat gluten! LOL)
But let's not cry for too long... let's go look at some fun things I found around the store! hehehe
Take a look here ... have you ever seen a YARD OF CHOCOLATE! hahahaa (For those of you outside the US, a yard is approximately the size of a meter)
Mmmmmmmmm A Yard of Skittles, a yard of Twix, or a Yard of Snickers!!!

What about these? In California - we are ADAMANT about which version of these little delights that we prefer. If you are a HALO person - that's the only one for you! If you like Cuties, you wouldn't dare to bring home HALOs! hehehe
Our house? CUTIES - hands down! If someone brings HALOs into our house - they just sit and sit and sit until we have to throw them away. lol We don't want to waste food hahaha, but no one likes their flavor! They're very plain, whereas Cuties are sweet and juicy and tart!!!

and now, I'm tasked to show you the most beautiful item in the store... right?
ok... well anyone who knows me will nod their heads when I show you the next picture, because this item is a THING OF DELICIOUS BEAUTY TO ME!!!!
hahahahaha You used to only be able to get a decent sampling of these things in a restaurant - but now? You can actually find a nice platter for yourself! I was really hesitant the first time to try it from a grocery store -but now? hehehe I'm hooked! I've actually watched the people make them fresh in the stores! and they do a wonderful job!!! and will even make them to order - specially right for you!
(I can't believe I'm actually going to post this right now - because - NO KIDDING, I'm on a detox right now, and eating VERY specific whole, clean foods - and even the SIGHT of this platter is making my stomach growl as we speak! hahahaha)

As you can see from the picture above - I love sushi, which has an assortment of seafood!!! hehehe And yep - that's what I would buy with $10 LOLOL

I love it prepared all kinds of ways! Just like Bubba from Forrest Gump! hahahaha I won't go on a list of ways that I love to prepare them... just give me a pound for $10 and I'm in heaven! hehehehe and i KNOW that a lot of people think eating shrimp, crab, and lobster is like eating bugs of the sea. hahahahahaha I suppose it all depends on the culture you're raised - but me???
I will take a big ol' shrimp and crab boil any ol' day! heheheh and if you bring some corn and potatoes and sausage - you're invited hahahaha

Ah...that hotel was a nightmare and if I had other choices that night, I would leave as far away as possible that midnight. They have nothing and I can't understand why they even bothered being in operation. I was only able to charge my phone 🤣🤣😂😂 and sleep...those are the two things I did and paid money for 😂🤣😂. How can they not even have cold drinks? I saw their Yoghurt and felt wow, I going for this and they even had the courage to say "We don't have cold drinks here" 😂🤣😂🤣. I didn't want to get angry, I just smiled through while watching my other friends dig into them.
Oh my! What a fun post! There's so much to say in response, and I don't know where to begin. 😂
Okay, so $7 for fuel! Here in Ireland the going cost has reached the dizzying heights of €2.10 (approx. $2.20) for diesel, and a little bit more for unleaded. These are record highs in Ireland, and everyone here is apopleptic! I think there'd be a revolution if the prices got anywhere close to €7! Lol!
As for rule breaking, Miss Dreemie, well... at least, you came with a good excuse and didn't tell me your dog ate your post. But rules is rules, so I think that detention might be on the cards, and, at $7 a gallon for fuel, it seems that's already happening.
I'm unsure there's anything wrong with your fruit photo. All I can see is fruit identifying as bananas. Surely, that's okay! 😉
And, believe it or not, I was just enjoying some Sushi yesterday in my eldest's fave sushi restaurant. Will the similarities never cease! Hehehehehehe.
All in all, your post had everything: shock, horror, giggles, and a whole heap of fun. And chocolate! How could I forget the chocolate?! I cannot begin to imagine eating a whole yard of Twix, or Skittles! But...perhaps... ummmmm, mmmmmmmm, snickers (once upon a time called Marathon) perhaps, I could take my time and go the long yard! 😂🤣😂

it was on instagram - and it was a video showing how to make watermelon sushi! they sliced it, marinated it - and then baked it until it was like.. the texture was like tuna i guess? hahaha
and they marinated it in soy, vinegar, and kombu (seaweed to make it more fishy hahaha) and i guess they said it was really legit! LOl
it looked so much like tuna!!! i kinda wanted to try it LOL but i'm looking up on youtube how to make it - and they have videos, but its not the same way in the end.
oh well hehehe if i find it and try it - i'll let you know! LOL
oh my gosh!!! Jack would LOVE watermelon sushi... hehe... he is a huge watermelon fan and loves vegan sushi too, so yes defo if you find it 😁👍

I know new math confuses me but dang do they have new bananas now?
I have in the past bought those yard long packs with Lulus son and used to be snickers all the way
But after the second time I broke a tooth on a snickers I now go for Twix
Seems to me once something becomes a requirement for some group of people they hack up the prices of it money hungry companies Grrrrrr

I have checked my supermarket for these new school colorful and round Bananas, but they only seem to have the old skool terminology and hence the curvy bananas,
I think perhaps because i like snickers cold and kept them in the fridge so they are quite hard when I eat them, could by why they snapped my teeth

Thanks for your fun post. Sushi would be my weakness as well. However I also like to make it at home myself as we do it in a fun manner. The yard stick of snicker would be my favorite but I would get fat just looking at it. So instead I will look at the basket of fruits which are called bananas. I figure that all have the same mother- Nature- so someone thought - what’s in a name.
Oh the gluten free thievery is unbelievable- I do not do well with gluten - so I use to give in but I prefer to fiddle around in the kitchen to make my own flour concoction and baked goods.
I am looking forward to participating in your joint endeavor with @dswigle. It will be a first for me - but I am sure it will be fun - looking forward.

But I love the way you write, you really are a happy person and that's contagious.
You said a lot of amazing things in your post. Some stuck in my mind right away, like 90 minutes, which is an hour and a half and $7 wow 😱😵. That already makes the publication of this post very interesting and truly an adventure, but without a doubt you had an ace up your sleeve hahaha. Yes, gluten free products. They just are expensive. Here in Spain too. We just avoid products with gluten… for hubby.
