I think in my country we find "healing" through distraction. There's so much breaking your heart every day that you have no other choice but to keep moving.
Well, calling it "distraction" might be a little far off, maybe I could call it a "realigning of focus". That's probably a better way to put it.
When I recently went through terrible heartbreak, I found healing in self-improvement. I focused on myself by working out and learning new skills until I began to feel better about my situation.
Maybe that's just a solution for me but I have observed that it works wonders on others who claim to try it on social media as well.
Personally, I don't think it's healthy healing through distractions. Through everyday is a heart-breaking experience, having awareness of it could lead us to make more sound decision than to distract ourselves. And you raise another great point of distraction. This got me thinking about how many social activities online to me are meant to be a great escapade from our distressing daily life. Hence why, many online places felt more like a save haven and we feel much safer interacting through the screen than physically.
Yeah that's a good way to self-heal other than traveling. It's something I referenced when I said healing doesn't always mean travel.
Directions are anything but healthy. It's why for the past 2 years a lot of people in my country have been taking the matter of our mental health a little more seriously.
