I often talk about community, about the wonderful people that are in my life and live n the same area as me. When I talk about my community, it is not one where we all live on a large piece of land, or where we are all neighbours. I know that some people hold that image, of what a community is. I have lived like that, in my truck and before that in my bus, sharing a large piece of lane with others. For a while, I can enjoy it. But then I need to move on. I am someone that needs their own space. Somewhere I can just lock myself away if needs me. Have a couple of days where I don't interact with anyone but my girls and the animals. It's something that is really important for my mental health.
Space. I need space. Space to just live, without any interference, where I can just be. In my own rhythm, by my own rules. I also don't want to be in a situation, where I find myself irritated by someone else, simply because the way that they live, affects mine. It's quite a privilege really. But then again that is one of the positives of living in a tiny moveable home. You can always move on, find a better place to be. Right now, I love the area I live in. I'm parked up, on an little Olive Grove, at the end of a road, that gets quieter the more you travel down it. There is nothing but dogs to hear at night and the occasional foxes.
I wake up and it's always peaceful, always calm, especially now that we live in here by ourselves. Before this, I lived on a piece of land, which was shared with about 15 other people, all with our own little space, but anyone could drop by, at anytime. Something, I really struggled with and is the reason I moved on from there. At the end of the day, everyone should have the freedom to be able to live, as they desire. Everyone is different, some people prefer not to be alone, to live in close proximity to others. Happy to have people just visit, unexpectedly.
I was catching up with some friends yesterday evening. One of whom, lives in a community, where there are lots of people who come and park up, on the and around where he and his partner have build their home, on land that they purchased. They sometimes put on events, with live music and DJ's. Opening up their home and land to the surrounding community. I have been to many wonderful events there and I hope to attend many more.
So I was upset to hear, that my friend was now made to feel unwelcome in his own home. This is someone, who is always unapologetically himself. Which, lets be honest, can be very triggering for some. He loves music and often DJ's at the events that take place at his home. There are many people living in vehicles on the land next to them, people who were attracted to more freer style of live. To basically have the freedom to live as they wish.
Some have been there longer than others and some have began to complain about my friend. That the events are too much sometimes, that he makes too much noise. There are also other things going on, that have nothing to do with him, yet happen around his home and sometimes n the land that he owns with his partner.
I get it you know, I couldn't live in a place where there was a lot going on all of the time, hence why I live where I do. I just really think, that if you do choose to live in a community setting, you have to let people be themselves, as long as they are not hurting anyone. Be able to accept people, especially if you are just moving through and they live there full time. At the end of the day, it is their home. But it seems some of the people complaining will only be there for a few months, but felt the need to share their opinions, which really is them getting triggered by someone who is very outspoken and full of life. It sadden me, to hear all of this. How this so called free community, was actually trying to control someone who has contributed a lot. over the years. There is nothing free about that. To me. that is control.
It's got to the point, where things are happening without anyone telling him, where he is feeling quite alienated and rightly so. I really feel for him.
You express in this post why, even though I do live in an intentional community, I spend most of my time alone. I feel you on the need for space, and to do your own thing, following your own rhythm, ditto that. People that have no time and investment in a place have no position to be complaining about those that do. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Yes I really need my space, my own little cave. xxx
Ditto that, dear, me too. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
it feels like there’s always pressure to be around people or to keep up with what others are doing, but having your own space to recharge is so important
Yes very important xx
Thank you for the support xx
It’s really sad to hear about your friend’s situation. Everyone deserves the space to live how they want, as long as it’s respectful to others. I hope things get better for them soon.❤️
Thank you @jmjourneys xx
I can certainly sympathize with the need for people to get along, but there are limitations for sure. I don’t know any of the other details which we don’t need, but I hope this individual finds a way to get what they need for their own time and space, or adapt to the people around them.
We for sure need our own space and time though!
Yeah I hope so too. He has gone away now for a little bit, to get some peace, hopefully when he returns things will be easier for him. xx
