I'm going to come out straight up and say it - help!
A while ago I created this really, really cool journal for publishing on Amazon. Well, I thought it was cool anyway. It printed up beautifully! I use one at home myself. I created what I'd like to use.
I then promptly forgot about it, because I'd gone off travelling, and just thought I'd come back to it at some point.
It's not an ordinary notebook - not just a handful of pages and a cover. I've also put in instructions for how to grow your own mushrooms, tips for foraging, and more. Every second page or so has a mushroom quote.
And...crickets. Because there's a ton of other fungi notebooks out there that have reviews and a presence on Amazon, unlike mine.
So, here's where I need your help. I'm not even sure if it's possible, but if you have an Amazon account, are you able to review it for me? I'm trying to figure out how I can discount it for Hive folk but I made an edit and it's still under review. I think I might try uploading a few different covers as well, as I hate this one - I did it with Midjourney ages ago and I'd like to replace it.

Welcome to the jungle that is Amazon selling/KDP! Hubby has been independently publishing his fantasy novels since January 2020 and - it is such a struggle to get seen, to get up in the ranking, to get reviews... very, very frustrating. Sometimes depressing.
Speaking of reviews, I am not sure it is a good idea to review an item that you haven't purchased. You get a 'verified purchaser' badge when you did and review and I could imagine that the omnipresent Amazon-algorithms might flag other reviews as being potentially 'bought'. You know, paying for reviews and stuff which apparently is a big thing. Found this
Maybe double-check the product categories and make sure you use the right keywords (check similar products selling well) on your product. Also, why only ages 7 - 18?
Maybe also add another couple of photos of the 'real book' and the inside as well.
And lastly, pricing - this is always difficult and very arbitrary but if I'm searching for a mushroom notebook all of them are quite a bit cheaper than yours. That is not necessarily bad but you'd need to convince me the potential buyer why I should spend more on your book than one of the others.
Having said all this - I'd love to support a fellow indie author and buy the notebook and then review it as a verified purchaser 😍. Do you have any idea when you are going to update the cover? Do you have the cover ready to go? Will it also be created with AI? If not then this might be a point of differentiation to other books as I am sure that quite a few of the ones in above screenshot are also made with AI yet I'm not sure if people care (I do as you know).

It's more an exercise than anything. I might just print some author copies and sell them locally.

The above are all composition notebooks... Covers and lined paper, and none offer what I do, but I guess I'll figure out how to advertise that fact.

I love the video you put up as a review. Something like that would certainly help it stand apart. However, you are right, the title, categories and keywords do the heavy lifting or not. Sucks if you can't update that.
As for not being an illustrator - are the interior illustrations also AI? Otherwise I'd say just make a collage out of those. Or - ask one of your artist friends here on Hive if they'd be able to work with you e.g. for a few Hive. There are a lot of good artists on Hive.
Anyways, I've ordered the book and once I have it a certain Kuwabara shall review it.
