The Myth That Slim People Don’t Eat... Have you met me?

So today, I stepped out of my house looking cute, minding my business, drinking water, breathing air, just living my life in peace. Before I could even reach where I was going, one elderly woman stopped me and said, “Ah-ah, my daughter, you’re too slim! Are you eating at all? You young girls of nowadays don’t like food. Better start taking pap with milk and groundnut so you can have body!”

And I just stood there like… who told this woman that I don’t eat? Did I confide in anybody that I’m fasting unwillingly? Do I look like someone that doesn’t know the way to the kitchen?

I don’t understand how people see a slim person and automatically believe the person is suffering, malnourished, or “not eating enough.” Some people are naturally slim. Some of us eat as if we’re competing in an eating competition, and we will still not add one single kilogram. It’s not poverty. It’s not stress. It’s not sickness. Sometimes, it’s just genes.

But no, people will never believe that one. They will just open their mouth and start dropping unsolicited advice:
“Eat more.”
“Add weight.”
“Try this herb.”
“Do that exercise.”
“Stop skipping meals.”

Meanwhile, nobody asked them anything. Nobody requested a health consultation. Nobody booked a mentoring session. They just take one look at you and decide you need help.

Honestly, people will see you and conclude your whole life story from one glance. They never know your background, your lifestyle, your body type, nothing. But they will still talk like they have the complete manual of your existence.

Sometimes I feel like shouting, “Please, leave my body alone. It’s not your project.”

But of course, I just smiled and walked away. Because if I start talking, they will say I’m rude.

Anyway, that’s my rant for today. Unsolicited advice should be a crime, honestly. People should learn to mind their business, it’s free and it saves energy.

I feel you! Other people don't understand us being slim. They don't know that some slim individuals have good metabolism which allows them to burn calories efficiently. In my experience, when somebody asks me why I remain skinny, I just say I don't know but I'm eating until I am fully full. I don't gain weight despite eating a lot, maybe this is due to a combination of genetic, metabolic, and lifestyle factors.
Cheer up! If they keep on asking you if you're eating enough, just stand and say YES proudly. ❤️

Honestly, you have said it all
I actually do say it that it's really a lot of God's love for all to eat and it metabolize quickly, no storing of excess fat somewhere
