Do you sometimes have the urge to organize your living space late at night?
In the spirit of New Year, I decided to also revamp my desk a little bit. It’s the part that I did not do when my mom was visiting. When she was visiting, I was mostly focusing on removing items and giving away things that no longer use/give value to me. We ended up cleaning quite a bit and it frees my room even more. Today, I cleaned and organized my room so that it looks even more aesthetic and gives my brain a little trick that something has changed.
Another big thing this year is that I am no longer an extreme minimalist without a bed and furniture. Friends who visited came over recently even mentioned that now I have a bed, a proper one with sheets and all that. I used to believe in sleeping on the floor with a japanese futon but now I have slightly transformed. When I was at my extreme too, I changed my wall to yellow hues because it makes the room more cheerful, inviting and makes me more productive than sleepy. I certainly did not recommend this color for any bedroom but since my place is tiny and it's an all-in-one space, I went with beige-sand yellow. Although on the bedroom side and the ceiling it’s still a soft blue which I think is perfect for a space to sleep. I was thinking of repainting the room but it’s pretty time consuming and even though it's not perfect, I sort of follow color psychology and feng shui when deciding the color and also interior design. I know it’s probably woo-woo but I think there is wisdom in it.
As you can see in this before and after, before my poster was hidden and it was not as highlighted as the after picture. I got Bitcoin on the moon poster, Hive and a landscape coffee poster. Eventually, I decided to place them where it’s mostly visible from my eyes and remove some 2022 to-do sticky notes that I have.
After
I also recently used a gaming keyboard and thought to do so since I don’t plan on traveling anytime soon. It has less noise and is pretty comfortable to use as well. The keyboard also gives me a sense of being a NEET and makes me not want to travel. It’s strange but when I have the portable set up, it just makes me wanna go and travel somewhere. I am trying to keep my table minimal but I can’t live without my markers and colorful sticky notes for my studying session. To me now, it’s more about being intentional than having a certain amount of items.
While cleaning my room, I was also tinkering with a new website called landing.space which allows users to create pictures for social media and even thumbnails. The concept is like pinterest but it has the option to create like canva does. Here’s something that I made, a vision board of 2023 that I also uploaded on my profile on that website.
My profile just in case you're into this kind of aesthetic
I was also making this too and thought about making it as my thumbnail but it doesn't look as good as I wanted it.
I think cleaning up late at night is pretty therapeutic. It’s another way to de-stress when I am feeling like I have too much on my mind and need something to change. It’s a cheap and easy way when watching movies or listening to music does not help anymore.

I sometimes have that attitude too, I mean suddenly cleaning my room at night as I felt I couldn't sleep if I won't 🤣. My housemates one time even laughed at me as I was mopping the floor. But the feeling when you know that your room were in order for what you wanted 😁.
Beige, that color was close to the wall paint of our house. I basically wanted it cream, for easy match making of anything but I wasn't there during the painting so it ended in beige. Yet that was still cool into the eyes.
I like your keyboard, and have been thinking about buying it for faster navigation on the laptop..
Haha it makes a good horror story! When I first moved in, my housemate said that she heard strange noises late at night, like someone was cleaning and creates srkk srkk sound. But I told her that I have this habit of cleaning late and night and I am a night owl as well. Eventually, all of us gets adjusted to it. Beige isn't bad, it's still light and pleasant to look at. You should get one of these keyboards, they are comfy and I find them to motivate me more to write :D
Happy New Year 2023 dear Mac! 🎉🎉
You know I started this year with all my positive vibes and since I didn't manage to clean my room before the end of the year, I decided to do it on January 1st and after that I got an allergy to die complicated with my asthma? I really thought I was going to die on January 1st at night 🥹.
It's ridiculous and unfair 🥺, I thought about painting my room, it was my brother's previously and the main wall has a red color like terracotta and I hate that color, but I know nothing about color psychology and I wanted to paint it grey so it would match everything easier, now I have no idea when I will paint it but I want to die trying 😥😥 what does Feng shui say about grey? I don't think it's a lot of good things 🥹.
Loved your posters! 👏👏 and that keyboard too, doesn't the sound of those keyboards make you feel better? To me they are like an ASRM I love it! They relax me too much, in fact I just listen to videos of that on youtube and Instagram to relax.
Good thing you have a bed now, it's something comfortable and better for your back, considering you work many hours sitting, anyway if you are happy with your Futon, then do what makes you happy this 2023 dear Mac.
A hug and greetings my friend @macchiata 🤗💞
So, you're allergic to dust as well? I always make sure to wear mask and spray water before cleaning to avoid dust. When I clean, I either get really sick for weeks or have itchiness. It can get quite annoying that it happens. I hope you are better now.
I personally don't like deep grey as a room color as it looks pretty depressing and according to color psychology that is the negative connotations to it but perhaps lighter grey would be nice as it shows neutrality. So, if you really want it grey, go with lighter tones. Fengshui is more about furniture replacement. and how energy affects it. For example, your chair of workspace should not be placed blocking the door or facing the door. As it would mean that you are blocking the energy of wealth. You can check this out https://www.healthline.com/health/feng-shui-tips-for-your-office#your-office they also have some color options like sandstone, yellow, pale gold, orange, and white is also acceptable.
Honestly, sleeping on the floor is removing my backpain more than sleeping on bed but it's nice to read on a comfy padded bedding which is a reason why I also have the bed. My mom is also often visiting and I can't let her sleep on the floor like me 🤣
I hope you have a great week ahead!
I will take the water spray strategy into consideration, I hadn't thought of it Mac. Yes, I am too allergic, now I have a serious problem because I bought 3 gallons of dark grey paint for that wall 🙃, is that covering that red color was going to be difficult 🥲, but I intend to only put that wall like that, the others, one has a window that takes up half the wall and the other 2 are white, I will look for white curtains and try to lighten everything else 🥲, I have no choice🥲. I'm going to read that post and I definitely need to change my desk room.
Happy week to you too dear @macchiata.
I think doing anything late at night is theraputic. In the stillness of night, when everyone is asleep, there are no distractions and no interruptions. Its simply YOUR time!
I love the 2023 design, Mac and will be giving your landing.space suggestion a try.
Have an amazing year. Please keep inspiring us all with your consistency and never-ending push for improvement. Thank you :-)
Best wishes to you and your family. Take care, be safe and be happy always :-)
You should try it, they are pretty fun and you can get lost in it for hours. I wish you a good and more abundance. I am sure in 2023, we all need more money 😁 I also just read your post and looks like you had fun recently. Love the pictures from that trip. Cheers and once again, Happy New Year!
On the contrary, I made a huge mistake the last time I was tired and a bit sleepy. I accidentally deleted a few folders of my photos. LOL.
Do you also pair it with dim light? because my room uses 20 Watt and it's so bright. Unless I change to "yellow"-ish light and then it'll make me sleepy :D
Strange as it sounds, I still sleep on the floor at times when I am staying a hotel and the way I do it is just by covering it with the towels and those tapestry. I don't know but my back likes it more 🤣

Thank you @steemflow!
I have experienced decluttering at night because I felt uncomfortable with it. Hehe
It's so nice if we only have fewer things in our room for us to be more comfortable and can move freely.
And one thing I like is your gaming keyboard. 😁 it looks attractive because of its different lights.
😁 You definitely should get one of those. Not only pretty aesthetic, it just is nice to type especially if what you do is writing a lot or play games. I think like @nathen007 said, there's no interruption and no distractions. That's why we get comfortable with it.
In my case, it's possibly because I don't like people much too and I don't have to talk to anyone in person at that time of night lol ;-)
A good clean is always a good activity I think! I like the changes you’ve made, adding a bed and furniture is a big improvement as well. I lived in a tiny 200 square foot apartment for a few years back in college so I’m familiar with the necessity to have a bit of organization to your space and making some adjustments to it from time to time!
Yes! for some reason I am too attached and not wanting to move to a bigger space. Though it can be frustrating at times, but this place has helped me focused a lot.

Yes! I feel that urge...often lol. I took it to the extreme lately and allowed myself an entire new interior after a decade of living with upcycled stuff. It is therapeutic 😄. I do sleep on a traditional Japanese futon as well, would never go back to a regular bed. I have a full set, tatami mats, futon matress and the traditional kakebuton and shikibuton. I like that there are people following the same things when it comes to creating ones own space. Yellow, my new sofa is yellow 😄.
Tidying up is always therapeutic, I love doing things at night... in another life I was probably an owl heh heh!
Keeping your desk tidy brings mental order and to be more productive, I've read something about it.
Nice post!💪
