As I accompanied my four pooches and their suitor (the big black hound) this morning on their daily constitutional, six small planes were criss-crossing overhead, leaving vapour trails behind them (yeah, right!). I know, I know, chemtrails are a conspiracy myth. So, instead of cursing, shaking my fist at them or worrying about what the hell I was breathing in, as I normally do, I found myself chuckling at the memory of this day last year, when I decided I’d be posting every day of 2025.
But who was I kidding? I neither lead a life so fascinating nor possess a mind so endlessly creative.
I did, mind you, once post every day when I first joined the blockchain, nearly nine years ago now. There was a great fella around then, @tonyr, who ran the Alphabet Challenge: a post a day for 26 consecutive days, following the letters of the alphabet. Art, poetry, prose — anything went.
I was off to a flying start. Then I discovered the fabulous Freewriters and kept the daily habit going. Back then I wrote a lot of longer-form fiction, something I can barely even attempt now.
My imagination seems to have deserted me. Perhaps it's the effect of leaving the city with its constant stimulation, and retiring to the countryside, where the most exciting thing that happens in a month of Sundays is someone discarding a mattress.
Or perhaps real life has simply become a little too… surreal.

"where the most exciting thing that happens in a month of Sundays is someone discarding a mattress."
THAT... made me laugh!
I did post more for a while when I first came here and I have "spells" where I post more than others, but there is not enough going on in my life to post something interesting daily. "something interesting" are the key words there. Not only that, although some folks can dash in some photos and put out a post in a few minutes. Somehow, I'm not like that. I'm not a slow person in general, but by the time I choose photos, crop them if needed, save them, create a post to add the photos on and write something, it sometimes takes a very long time. After I work, at least 5 days during the week, I can't seem to want to give that much time every day to a post when there is so much other life happening around me.
I suppose I could make something up, I mean, who'd know?? LOL....
Hahaha, You'd know!

We seem to have had a similar experience here. I hereby vow to post more next year. 😂
Many years ago(about 15) I was searching through U.S. patents for curiosity and I discovered one for canisters that could be attached to airplanes and were capable of dispersing metallic particles into the atmosphere. The purpose of the particles was to reflect UV light in order to combat global warming. I recall this patent was issued about 4 decades ago. I'm sure there are many more like it.
I agree. Weather modification has been widely reported in mainstream media over the last few years, yet nobody wants to believe it. It's easier to get people to believe that Elon Musk can reach Mars😂
As for posting more this year, I'll be right behind you!:)
I'm at a loss at moment. It's been over a week. For the first time since I've been on the block chain, I just don't fancy it. Lots happens and I have ideas but the urge to write just has evaporated. Perhaps because it hurts to sit, or perhaps I'm just enjoying life and slightly repelled by screens. With AI, it all feels faker than ever.
Happy New Year xx
I read your recent comment about your writing fatigue. Take a break, but don't go. We need you. Yours is one of the posts I read while I drink my morning coffee, before my eyes are even open.
A Happy New Year to you too and I know it will be, now you have your dream home.
I'm glad you are t fully aware whilst reading my drivel.
It's nice to be wanted by six people on the internet.
Nah seriously, I'd miss everyone!
Love the 'courtship' picture :)
Posting every day...I can't imagine. I know people do it...
I look forward to seeing more of your posts this year. I'll try, also, but I think two a week is my max.
Happy New Year, @deirdyweirdy
@owasco, please note!
Where one man sees in my fine image nothing more than a defecating dog, another perceives courtship — a true romance, expertly captured at the very moment of its inception.
And a happy New Year to you too, my friend. Personally, I intend to treat this year, like the last, with the ridicule it deserves:)
😅
methinks @agmoore was pulling your leg.
We wouldn't have it any other way.
😄
Cynic!
All the best for 2026 ❤️
Thanks Shani. The same to you!
I’m looking forward to many more attempts at deciphering your handwriting, before quickly admitting defeat and resorting to the typed version😂
You and me both! If I didn't transcribe it immediately after writing, I'd have no chance 😂
😂I know what you mean. I write all these notes to myself before bed... vital, life-and-death reminders for the morrow. By morning, they might as well be hieroglyphics.
This is so similar to my trajectory here. I started with microfiction hosted by @jayna, then discovered the freewriters. I also posted nearly every day back then. I think the first thing I ever read of yours was a zapfic, which I found brilliant of course. I myself wrote little stories that astonished me! (I'd never written fiction before) I wrote longer stories for @tristancarax challenges that were downright phenomenal! I worked my butt off for poems for the Ink Well. And now...
My freewrites turn stale about ten seconds in, and I can not envision spending the time it takes to fashion a longer story; I doubt I could even pull it off. I've gone from being a daily writer, to being a now and then writer.
You stop to take shots of your pooches when they defecate?
Nice chemtrails. I wonder what they are trying to pull on you over there. Perhaps folks will come down with the new flu strain they are trying to scare the shit out of us with now. Flu-like symptoms could be, as some say, detoxification. When the trails are like yours are, I do go inside and stay there for a few hours. In the US, we are often sprayed at dawn and dusk, when it is harder for us to see.
What is most surreal for me is that so many people cannot envision what is right before their eyes, raining down on their heads, or written in their medical records.
I love Devlin's video. His vision has changed the way I see how the world turns.
I said exactly the same thing to my brother after watching Jason’s interview with Mark Devlin. Suddenly, a lot fell into place. Even as a child, I could never accept the idea of a benevolent creator, because, as I saw it, evil so often seems to triumph. What Mark said about nature being intrinsically violent really struck a chord. I suspect we’re in for some very lively conversations in Mexico.
Not as a rule, but have you ever tried to get five rambling hounds into the same shot? I thought I did a magnificent job.
I took a second look. Have you ever tried to find five rambling hounds in the same shot? GREAT SHOT.
I see that what I have relegated to Nature could be superimposed by assorted fractals of code now, but not necessarily intrinsically anything. Our meeting at all in this life - what are the odds of that. Like mind is attracted by like mind in this programmed dimension. A collision of programs maybe. Some moments I can see it. Trippy!
After taking a second look, everyone comes around to my way of thinking😂
Back on Steemit, maybe once on here, I'd do a seven day challenge trying to get that "you did seven post" in a row, or week, whatever it was, badge. On the seventh day, it failed each and every time, don't know why, I tried to post 24 hours after the last but the seventh always escaped me, so I hung it up.
It failed every time? That sounds like unconscious badge bias to me, or else someone was actively sabotaging you:)
Happy New Year! 🐕✈️
Don't be too hard on yourself about the daily posting.
I won't be too hard on myself...just a lick of the cat o' nine tails before retiring to my bed of nails:0
