RE: Divine Is In The Crab Apple Blossom

But there is divinity, I want to argue. I'm looking outside at the wattle tree glowing golden in the morning light and the birds hanging off the banksia like the pollen addicted acrobats they are. God is in nature. It's in the threads that connect all life, from tiniest soil bacteria to giraffes.

Yes, absolutely.

I find, in general, religious folks—that is to say, people who cram into these small, dark buildings to hang their heads and fight over who can take ancient writings the most literally and use them to oppress people (usually women)—to be among the least spiritual and the least likely to see what God really is.

the least spiritual and the least likely to see what God really is.

Yes, we totally agreed on that one! It's so daft. Yet somehow it's in the ordinary folk as well - the frantic, screaming, incensed soldier raising a gun and saying he will bring down London and Washington because God wants him to? And America fighting wars in the name of GOD?? Fuck me, excuse the French. I just can't wrap my head around it. I hate calling people stupid - I try to practice compassion - but that just tries my patience big time.
