TO GO INTO THE CORPORATE WORLD OR STICK TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP?

I have actually been pondering hard on this question and I could not even find an answer to it, although I am not pressurizing myself in any way. I was speaking to my friend days ago and it came up, which led to me ranting in his DM about how confused I was about my life. I just graduated from the university and I am finding it hard to decide what to do next.

It’s not even that I don’t have options or that I have no skill. I do, but it’s still a bit confusing. You will understand what I mean by that in a moment. I am a photographer, I learned the skill while I was still a student but I am having some issues doing that fully at the moment. I do not have a camera or laptop and I have left the school area where I used to get access to gadgets free of charge (my boss’s place).

Yes, I could rent gadgets, but that comes at a slightly costly amount. If I decide to rent gadgets every time, to save up for a camera and a laptop of my own might be quite hard because I don’t really have a customer base yet. Coupled with the fact that I have not even decided the place I want to reside. I am just at my parents house for now.

Also, I already have entrepreneurship, I have been doing business since my 100 level days. I have sold a lot of things and what I have decided to stick with now is the sales of perfumes. As we all know, entrepreneurship is not for the faint hearted, but I am just trying to keep it moving. I have left school, where I have most customers.

As a matter of fact, most of those customers were my level mates and most of them have left school area to different locations as well. Even if they want to buy out of love from wherever they are, delivery fee can discourage them. So, I just have to figure out a way to provide solution to all the limitations.

I had to talk about these two things to let you know that it’s not as if I have nothing to do.

However, all the past graduates I have met and all the meetings I have attended keeps pointing at the corporate world and it is truly beautiful. You know all those professional terms, well tailored linkedin pages, posts and all those company roles also looked really good. We were advised to create a CV, take online courses and all that.

I have taken and attempted some online courses at some points in my life (UI/UX design and graphics design most especially). I love the idea of the corporate world, but I can only do it if it’s remote. I don’t want to be compelled to a routine that will make me forget other things I want to do with my life.

I mean, no matter the path I choose to eventually follow, business will always be a part of me and I will carry my business everywhere I go. Photography on the other hand is something I enjoy doing. If I had the opportunity, I would just focus on travel, nature and documentary photography.

Going back to my topic, I am trying to make a decision if I should actually carefully select an online course to do and pursue a career in it or just stick to doing my personal business. Anyways, I will figure it out as soon as possible. When I do, I will definitely let you know.

Thank you so much for reading❤️

It’s not easy to make this decision and you’ll know one day what is right for you. You can certainly do what some people do and do both. Use the corporate job to pay the bills while you get the other things going. It’s an option for sure! Entrepreneurship is such an important skill and thing to do though - we need more people filling in the needs of society with their own business ideas and skills! We don’t need more companies

Hmm, very profound! Thank you very much for your insightful comment

This would not have been confusing for you if you didn't have any business that you are doing ( Ardor ). You'd probably have gone straight for the cooperate.

About about getting new customers, you will need to be more than just yourself now. You need to meet people, go for event, seminars, join a group offline or online that have people who are more likely to be your customer. Entreprenuership is not for the faint hearted.

I wish you the very best.

Thank you so much for your comment, I think you really get the point of the whole thing. I will definitely take your advice and put myself out there more.

You're welcome🥂

I can imagine the tough choices you're faced with at the moment, all I can advice is weigh the pros and cons of your choices, the corporate world is a good space to save up to fund your entrepreneurial goals but be careful not to get stuck in the rat race if you do opt for the corporate world, however whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might and strength.
I'm sure you can thrive in whatever field you choose to focus on, best wishes on your plans for a better future.

You are very intelligent, my friend. I will put all that you've said to mind. You are very right about a lot of things, so thank you so much for your comment.

I wish you a better future as well❤️

Life after school can be hectic especially on the choice of career. I'm still in the midst of figuring mine out as well. hopefully, it'll get better soon.

Oh wow, that means you will understand better. Really, I hope we figure it out soon so one won't be pressurized to settle for just anything when one needs to start building one's life. I wish you all the best ❤️

it will get better. Thank you

What I can tell you is this, look at the side where you think has the most opportunity open to start or begin. I see that entrepreneurship is what you are good at and it is something you can do alongside your photography but yeah, you don't have gadgets and customer base.

Then try corporate work. Since you don't like 9 to 5 jobs then consider remote works and what skill that keens your interest. Take that skill seriously and see it as a route to open opportunities for your other interests.

More like when you are really good at UI/UX or any remote job skill that is needed in the job market today, the salary you would get to earn in these jobs can be used to get your desired photography gadgets, or even start a bigger business and employ someone to manage the sales.

I hope you get my point.

Yeahh, I do. Thank you so much for dropping this very reasonable comment❤️. I will make sure I make a very good decision, which you will be aware of, of course.
