Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to chat a little bit about how making small changes can have impacts on us without really knowing it!
Timing Adjustments
I've been working on a number of changes recently, lots of personal ones for sure. One of the changes is switching up the time of day in which I do my writing!
I've been recently able to make some adjustments to the timeframe that I can do my Hive post writing and it's been a pretty interesting shift. I usually would write all of my stuff at night before I went to bed but I've had a shift in a few things. With reorganizing the house, it is a little more challenging being able to do the writing at night like I used to. That's okay because the changes have been definitely an improvement but it's weird changing habits like that.
One of the things that I think I got used to was being able to write down my thoughts in the evening. Did this have a negative impact on my ability to sleep soundly though? I wonder about that and will have to report on that in a few months, of getting the writing done in the morning or not. To be determined though is will this have an impact, positive or negative, on my work day that I undergo? That is definitely something I will have to keep in mind! We all know that being productive at work is an important thing, working from home even moreso.
Initially one of the weird things for me has been writing when it's light out lol. I'm used to being in the dark when I do this. It may seem strange to think of it that way but it's true! haha. When you're in a particular mode or mindset when you're doing things for a few years, switching that to something different can present it's own challenges. These are good challenges though, we need to be able to adapt and overcome obstacles, even minor ones like this. This proves that we can come to a situation and try to think logically about it and see what we can do to get over it, improve upon it and keep on going.
One element to getting the writing done in the morning that I am enjoying though is that I can focus on other things in the evening. It has been recently a few things off-chain such as catching up on some movies that I haven't watched in the 4 years since we disconnected our television for various reasons. With the rearrangement of the house now, we decided to plug the television back in and get it connected again. This will be something that we keep an eye on, to make sure that it doesn't provide too much of a distraction to the normal day to day stuff that we have to do in order to keep the house clean, organized and our son entertained when he is home.
The shift has been something that was needed to be done for a while though. With many things in life, we push it off if it's not completely critical to our functioning and we definitely did that. It feels good to make those changes though and see how beneficial they are. I know that my wife and I certainly feel better about having the rearrangement of the house and what it does for keeping things clean!
One step at a time, that's all it takes to make incremental changes!

Writing at night is awesome. You know with the serene environment, the inspiration flows beautifully. All the best 🌹
Yeah I do enjoy writing at night! It does give a lot of quiet which is nice!
Presearch sounds interesting. The idea reminds me of Brave and BAT, token rewards for blocking intrusive ads and opting in to see incentivized ones. Shifting habits has been a difficult task for me, which is why I enjoyed the insights of James Clear in his book, Atomic Habits. Much of content over the past year has involved, been influenced by or referenced his findings. Designing your environment is one strategy he recommends, which I think you allude to with your post. Here's to changing how we do to things to do more things that bring us joy.
Hmm never seen you around before, welcome to the community! Funny thing, my wife and I used to live in Boston. Where are you there? Going to one of the universities? Did you take a break from hive and come back?
Presearch is good, it’s a little bit of a slow earner but that’s okay with me. I use it every day but don’t plan on selling or spending any of it. The way they run the platform is the future of decentralized web searches. It’s remarkable stuff!
Changing things is a good way to progress in life that’s for sure! We’ve done a lot of changing in our house over the past 2 months and it’s been a really good adjustment.
About three weeks ago, I did most of my writing in the evenings because I was either physically drained from work or just not in the mental state to document my feelings.
These days, I simply steal time to do it because I don't want to feel constrained by a schedule. Instead, I just work with the fact that I will "certainly write today" and then move forward with it. The randomness is kind of fun.
Writing at nights have some benefits. When insomnia kicks in on some days, writing actually helps you sleep.
Yeah writing at night is a good thing a lot of times, cathartic draining of the crap of the day!
It's good that you're going on a few different times for writing, I've done that recently as well where I will write at night again for a few then the following day write in the morning again. Interesting stuff for sure!
When a person makes changes over time like this, there are bound to be some problems in the initial days and then it becomes routine. I have a habit of making my post at one or two o'clock at night.
Yes that's for sure! It's good to make these steps in the right direction for sure.
Yeah. Its compulsory
