You know, getting caught up in government events like workshops, socializations, counseling, especially events like inaugurations, and handovers is the worst misfortune in life. Although usually the event only lasts for four hours at most, but during those four hours you will experience extreme boredom. At least that's what I experienced several times during 2024, where I was forced to attend events like the ones I mentioned above.
What I mean by bad luck is the fact that in those events you will be huddled in an air-conditioned room with the pungent smell of the participants' perfumes colliding with each other, overlapping in your nostrils, then continued with being forced to listen to a series of welcoming remarks that are filled with flattery. After that, the topic of discussion is usually this and that achievement, while at the end it always ends with a complaint that they are short of budget.
Even though we know that the achievements that are revealed are basically just a way for them to cover up their failures, and the facts on the ground that show this, even when we ask, for example, they will always be diverted with the sentence, "We have succeeded in implementing this, we have carried out the authority as assigned by law." Nothing more.
Meanwhile, the final statement about the lack of budget can clearly be interpreted to mean that they, these officials who tend to be corrupt, need new budget items that can be cut, marked up and so on to then be put into their personal accounts.
So you can imagine how frustrating it is to be trapped in an event with such a variety of contents. Surely you will grumble to yourself, especially when the criticism or critical questions you throw out in the Q&A session are casually diverted by the moderator who of course is also filled by government people.
That is why every time I know that I have to attend official government events, I always prepare myself and it always involves a sketchbook and pen. I think, one way to kill boredom when attending events like this is to keep yourself busy like making sketches, scribbles, or doodles in the sketchbook you bring. At least, I managed to get rid of the bad luck I experienced while in the air-conditioned room, and when the event was over I felt like I really needed coffee.
And what I have embedded in this post are sketches that I have made while attending government events that spend a huge budget every year. Thus, hopefully you will not experience the same thing or if you do, you can adopt the method that I have. Cheers and ciao.

Bagaimana Aku Membunuh Suntuk Ketika Mengikuti Acara Pemerintah
Cheers and ciao.

How is it living on Java then?
Anyway, I'm not living in Java, but in Sumatera. Actually in the province of Aceh. On the map, it is right at the western tip of the island of Sumatra. Someday you should make a trip here, there are many beautiful tropical places with the unique culture you can explore. 😄Thanks for your support, Sonja @mandragora88
