The weekend is here and it is such a relief. This was yet another tedious week of work and my bones were yearning for some rest.
The weekend comes at a nice time, as well. It precedes a bank holiday but technically, the holiday is on Sunday but since that's a weekend, it was pushed to Monday.
I don't know what it is about four days weeks but they tend to go by very fast. It's just one out of the five working days but for some reason, it speeds things up.
So, this weekend basically got an extension and honestly, I think this is how it should be. The demands to survive for a human are far too high for us to work five days in a week. Mental breakdown and other psychological issues are just a finger tip away because of the strain of corporate life.
The rat race is unforgiving; it feels like an unending cycle of monotony. You're like that hamster running in that wheel, going no where but expending all your energy to make the wheel spin. You also know that if you stop running, the wheel would probably kill you.
I know people who work for days in the week and have three day weekends and they seem happier. They do a couple more hours daily but get rewarded with an extra day of weekend. That's something I won't mind subscribing to.
Anyway, the weekend is here for me and I intend to enjoy it the way I know how to. I already went for a jog yesterday, so today, I'll just be indoors. I'll make a few burgers, play video game and then later on, enjoy some football.
It has been a while I went to the pub to see a game, so I might actually get my ass out of bed to go see a game. I've lost interest in socializing or public places in general but there surely can't be any harm in just going to watch a 90 Minutes football match.
The going out part isn't certain, as it requires taking a shower, wearing clothes and walking. Three things I absolutely hate doing these days. Showers a bearable in comparison to the other two but God damn it, why do have to shower every day?
The way we’ve worked has been largely meant to keep us subdued in my opinion. That is changing which is good, but I think one of the challenges is AI is going to be pushed on us really hard and cause a lot of issues in terms of work, requiring many people to change themselves completely. Who knows what that will mean for work hours.
