The 3rd Day of 2022 || A Gift In Need Is A Gift Indeed?

Bestie_K had mentioned in passing she needed scales, and "dibs" I shouted since her birthday is around the corner. And I did this in November too for Bestie_A.

K asked me if I was going to give scales to all my friends, and I replied to those who want to get one themselves, yes.

Have I become a boring gifter? Am I taking the surprise away from what's under the wrapper? Am I a party-pooper?

This is my argument based on my standards. I have over time received gifts that have made me go "eerrrrr". Then I"d end up discreetly giving it away to someone whom I think would appreciate it. But now I can ask first and see if it is something they want so it won't be dumped.

At the same time, asking some of my friends what they want is also tricky because they will tell me they don't want anything, just be there.

So I keep my ears peeled during conversations and if they mention something I can afford, I call dibs and tell them that's my gift to them.

And if I don't get any hints by the date, then I bring them out for a nice meal to celebrate. Who can resist good food, right?

Recently, I was having a conversation with a friend and their Secret Santa do. This group of friends (not acquaintances, not office mates - friends) had created a wish-list on an online shopping site to help the gifters. Some had picked things that were over the budget which didn't sit well, some had received gifts that were not on the wish list, and it felt like some weren't entirely pleased with what they got.

I can totally relate to this miss-match as I have been on every end of that spectrum and so now I play it smart.

So, what is your gifting style? I would really like to know.
Oh, and one more thing. So while I was there, I saw a gymnastic hula hoop and a trampoline. If you are into fitness, which one would you recommend for some activity done at home?... Asking for a friend ;p

Great meals are my ray of hope in these crazy times!

And wine
Don't forget the wine ;D

I usually go into a discussion with the person I want to gift and find out something’s which they want without them knowing and I will get one of the things mentioned during our discussion.

You are very good :D

Thank you 😊

Wow thank you for this nice write up
