Music has been a universal language for alot of centuries.
Music has the power to influence our thought s and inspire our emotions.
Do you think it's possible for music to affect a relationship with God or are spirituality?
SECULAR MUSIC: secular music, often talk about life experiences, how we feel, and some express themselves through secular music.
Now the question is, does secular music have a negative impact on us?
negative impact of secular music
Some secular music promote unclean behaviors which can affect our spirituality, secular music often promote and glorifies unclean behaviors which can affect a person's relationship with God.
One thing you need to pay attention to whenever by listening to secular music, it's the lyrics.
The lyrics of a song or music, tells us what the song is all about, if it's glorifies God or not.
Some secular music promote sexuality. Especially hip hop songs, most artist usually sexualize their lyrics, which makes it unclean for a Christian to listen to.
Whether we believe it or not, music has a huge impact on our lives. Just imagine listening to a secular music, with a nice beat and an unclean lyrics, most times we might find ourselves either dancing to this music or singing along.
I'm not disputing the fact that they are good secular songs to listen to, but the thing is, there are more corrupted lyrical circular music than the common ones we can listen to.
In today's world, from my own observation, I can say secular music is unhealthy. Aside from the spiritual aspect of it, secular music and affect a person mentally, some secular artist often promote racism, violence and other unclean characteristics.
As a lover of music, whenever I want to listen to you a new song or music, I often pay attention to the lyrics, and the reason is because it would help me to know what kind of message is the artist trying to send out, and what impact does this music have on me. I easily learn songs so quickly and sometimes, when I stay in a background where a secular music is being played, even if I don't want to sing along, my ears and my mind would capture the beats of the song and sometimes the lyrics too, and I can just find myself vibing it to the song.
Secular music is charming and a person can easily get addicted. There was a point in my life, when I love listening to secular music, at that point I didn't see it as anything because everyone will literally vibe to a new song, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't follow the crowd and vibe along because the song has a really nice beat.
What made me started being attention so the kind of song I listening to, using Spotify music app. Spotify will always show the lyrics of a song, so when a new hit song comes out, I'd go to Spotify to learn the lyrics, but I found out that some of the lyrics were just creating negative impact in my mind .
Especially when the secular song has a beat that is danceable, everyone will definitely want to Vibe to it.
We need to be very careful as to what songs we listened to, it is possible for our friendship with God to be affected because of the kind of songs we listen to.
The other beautiful songs we could actually enjoy listening to, it doesn't have to come from a gospel artist, there secular songs that are educational and have positive impacts in our minds. Secular music can be really tempting to listen to, but we have to be careful about the kind of secular songs we listen to.
Our spirituality and our relationship with God matters, so should do everything within our power not to let anything come between us and our relationship with God, not even secular music.
