Echoes of Emotion: How Music Shapes My Feelings

Psychology of Music: What does it make you feel? Music affects my emotions and, most times, my thoughts, depending on the context. Sometimes it triggers joy within my spirit upon reflection and sometimes sadness when it has to do with evoking some kind of negative memories of the past.

For instance, there's this music my late youngest brother loved so dearly those days. He hardly goes a day without playing the Afro music; he learned every line of the lyrics and always sings along with the artist. It simply makes him happy. Wherever I am and I hear the music play, I will immediately remember my brother. Then death came knocking, and he died, yet this music still exists, and many people play it all the time, and then each time I hear the sound of the same music, my emotion changes, sadness overtakes me. And then I begin to remember my late brother and the memories we shared together while he was alive. I begin to have nightmares, and it's not just good for my health. Personally, I stopped playing this said music because of my mental health, but then, I can't stop the world from playing the music. I have taken so many precautions to take away my mind on my late brother, but yet the sound of this particular music always evokes sadness as it keeps reminding me of my late youngest brother.

Regardless of my experience with the said music explained above, music also feels like therapy to my soul, as it has the ability to uplift my spirit, motivate me, especially in my low moments, and also serve as a safe space for emotional release. I have talked about this song, Jehovah Overdo by Chidinma, and how this song gives me spiritual connection and hope. It helps me to realize that despite my predicament, the creator of the whole universe is still on the throne and able to come through. Whenever I listen to this song, it brings me peace and calmness and unusual emotions that words cannot explain.

Some kinds of melodies and lyrics of music influence my mood and can make me release tears upon reflection. Music also serves as a stress reliever; somber kinds of music also provide comfort when I am in sorrow. Overall, music can make me feel uplifted, comforting, or even spark creativity depending on the context.

How does music make you feel? Different emotions like mine? Feel free to share.

There are many ways music can affect our mood, but it all depends on how we want to perceive it, especially music that brings a sad memory.

I feel instead of thinking of his death while you listen to that music, try thinking of his happy moment and how happy he was when he listen to that song, I believe it will bring you some relief and help you change the focus on your mind from sad and sorrowful to happiness and joy.

Music has a strong hold on your mental health, and how we handle it matters a lot. This was an interesting entry. Thanks for sharing.

My dear..it's the thing of the mind but I will try to handle better
I really appreciate your feedback 🤗

You’re welcome big anuty 🤍🤍

Why you can't stop others from playing that song, you can ask the Holy Spirit to help and heal you so that whenever you hear the song again, it will just be another song.

And yes, I agree with you, listening to good music is therapeutic.

Yes...the holy Spirit can indeed help me with it
