My Approach To Refining My Music Skill In 2025

One of the decisions I took aa we entered this year is to be serious with my music life no matter what it may cost me. For a long time I have been lagging behind, stuck in one place and not growing. I think it's time to break out of that yoke.

As an individual, I believe that there is nothing we can not achieve or become if we decide to intentionally and committedly work towards it.

People don't become unsuccessful because they are dull, but because they are careless and casual with their decisions to become what they want.

I used to have this belief that I could not do well in music because my voice is bad but that belief died when my friend told me she started music as a total novice, she was twice as terrible as I think I am, but here she is today singing like she was born with it.

Of course it is not going to be easy for me but if I will be deliberate about music and pay the price to improve, I am certain that I will do great in no time.

Since the beginning of the year I have already started working on my music life and I am seeing some improvement. I just pray that I won't quit along the line.

To achieve mastery in something one needs to have special methods or strategies to make that a reality. For this year, below are a few ways I intend to make my music skill better.

1 . Study the area of my weakness in music and address it: until one knows where the problem is coming from, he/she can not solve it.

This year, I'll be paying close attention to areas that I am finding difficult in music and keep working on them. I'll take it one at a time starting with my vocals.

2 . Practice often: I already drafted a time table for my personal rehearsals. One thing with skill is it becomes more active and productive when we practice. Practice is just like fuel and oil. They sharpen and make our skills efficient.

Every Saturday and Sundays are for my rehearsals, I picked those days because on those days I am usually free. I spend two hours on those days training myself on music.

As of last year, I could count how many songs I could sing from beginning to end, but currently, there is a great increase because each week, I ensure I score a song.

3 . Get a personal music mentor : mentorship is one of the best ways to learn and to grow speedily. I have observed and asked questions and I discovered that the majority of the people who I know to be good singers have mentors.

Standing alone in the pursuit of our growth can limit us to a certain extent. I am just imagining how far I would have gone in music if only I had someone to teach me apart from the corporate rehearsal I go to.

I have not yet gotten a personal mentor yet, but I am planning to do that before next month. I don't know why I am feeling reluctant about the idea but I will force myself and do it knowing the benefits attached.
