For years music has been a complete part of my life since I was a kid. Growing up, I was more fascinated by Destiny Kids' tracks, which happens to spark a deep love for music within me. Those catchy melodies and inspiring lyrics ignited a fire that would burn brightly throughout my life. As I grew older, my passion for music only intensified, leading me to fall in love with drumming.
I remember an incident couple of years back. My mom stopped me and my sister from going for rehearsals due to a little misunderstanding. It was heart broken, at that moment I felt lost and confused. I was only in primary five and had no control over the situation. But even in the midst of disappointment, my love for music remained untamed.
As I entered my teenage years, my focus shifted from drumming to singing. Although my voice wasn't as melodic as I imagined it would be, I was determined to improve. I practice tirelessly, singing along to my favourite songs.
Years later in my Senior years in school, I joined a group of friends who introduced me to smoking and drinking. Unfortunately, this lifestyle killed my passion for music. Music was once my escape and comfort, became a distant memory. I lost sight of my dreams and aspirations, and my life seemed to be headed in the wrong direction.
But then came a turning point I never expected would happend. Gaining admission into college forced me to reflect on my life. With God's guidance,
I joined the school chapel choir band, which reignited my love for music. Singing alongside fellow students, I felt a sense of belonging and purpose. Music became my sanctuary once again, providing comfort and solace during challenging times.
Today, I am proud to have written several songs, although they are not yet recorded. My music journey has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but I am grateful for the twists and turns that have shaped me into the person I am today.
Through my experience in my journey, I have learnt valuable lessons about resilience, determination, and the power of music to uplift and inspire. Music has taught me to persevere, even in the face of challenges, and to never give up on my dreams.
As I think on my journey, I realise that music is more than just a passion, it's a part of me. It's a reflection of my emotions, thoughts, and experience. Music has helped me cross life's challenges, and I am grateful for its presence.
Let me wrap it up, my music journey so far has been a transformative experience that has shaped me into the person I am today. I am actually looking forward to continue my journey, and I am anxious to see where my passion for music will take me next. Whether it leads me to record my songs or perform on stage, I know that music is a part of me and will always be a complete part of me.
