Normally when i wake up with a foggy brain, a million notifications and a bunch of money. I just assume the worst. So I was completely blown away to discover it was all you folk showing the love, wow, I got to show off my baby and i get paid for it, there must be a catch, Im not sure where that money comes from so if its donations, wow, thank you, its unnessecary but very much appreciated, I'd talk about weed for free! Il find some way to pay it forward.
Babies got A name!....
Medusa cheers @loonatic,
Medusa was a really tragic character, the gods did her dirty and then she gets her head cut off, which is perfect because i think im going to top her.I havent topped any of my autos before so its a bit of an experiment. but im undecided we have awhile before we get there.
Not much happens the 1st week so I will give you the rundown on my super cheap setup.
The Closet:
Standard bedroom Closet, hanging space converted into grow room, lined in reflective mylar sheeting. I cut some air holes in the back at the top and bottom for some airflow. Total cost $6
It looks like a regular closet by day
()
But in the dark
It could be a portal to the hell dimension.
Lights: Marshydro TS600
Theres so many lighting options it can be overwhelming when you start, I went for the marshydro ts600 because it is such a small space, in hindsight i probably shouldve opted for the ts1000 just for the added dimmer functionality. Still a great wee budget light has worked well for me. Total Cost $70
Growing Medium: Soil, Biobizz All-mix, 3gal fabric pots
Im running with biobizz all mix soil in 3 gal fabric pots, I was warned that all mix can be a bit to hot (nutrient rich) for seedlings but so far i have had no issues. Total cost $16
Nutrients: Biobizz grow, bloom and topmax
Again i went with the biobizz basics, they come in a trial pack, I go easy because the soils so loaded i only use ph'd RO water for the first few weeks I have run into nute burn before so I stick to half the recommended doses until im sure she can handle it. Total cost $15
Air Flow: Usb Desktop fan
Cheap oscillating usb fan, I set it infront of the lower air vents at the bottom so its drawing air in. its not an ideal set up but its been adequate so far. Total Cost $10
Plastic Tray:
Most recent edition Sleek black plastic tray, my last one could only hold one pot and still took up most of the floor space. The new ones a two seater. Total cost $1
All in about $118 spent, Its so basic im surprised it works but ive had 2 grows so far averaging 2oz per plant which is all i need (I'll write a full report on both strains when i get a chance). Theres plenty of room for improvement and im open to suggestions on the best ways to up my game.
Back to the diary...
Medusa's hanging in there
she does have me slightly concerned over a couple of wee things, her stalks super skinny and doesnt feel sturdy enough for me to get in there and bend it a little bit, like the roots havent quite taken a hold yet,
secondly she seems a bit stunted down one side on the 1st node, It'll be interesting to see if my bud brother @derangedvisions purple lemonades share any traits. Its early in the game so theres not much i can do but wait and watch, hopefully she sorts herself out. If not im a few months closer to trying out some of these brothers in farms seeds @bifbeans Galactic reserve looks fire.
Thanks for reading, il update you at least once a week and I can give my full reviews on my previous grows when i get a chance... but first im going to break out the fancy skins and blaze a stiff one from my lemon pie auto harvest for the hive and weedcash peeps.
Until next time, Take care folks
the funny thing is that the name medusa has been around for 1000+ years just like cannabis 😋 i'm pretty high 😁
Couple thousand years versus hundreds of thousands if not millions... I'm going to bet on the plant.
The greeks where for sure smoking the devils lettuce when they came up with half their mythology
I think it's cool to watch documentaries when I'm well stoned. About gods history and where the whole shitshow started. I love to make my own theories.
Nice man, my Purple Lemonades sprouted up yesterday. It will be cool to see how they grow alongside each other.
yeah it'll be interesting to see how they do throughout, bud boys for life, keep your balls off my drum kit
This is exactly what I'm doing with the exception of soil is mix and hydroponics/ working on setting up aquaponics.
One of these days I'll finally get housing and exactly this direction.
In startup sometimes you're wasting a bunch of lights on a tiny little plant when you could be better served using some smaller and just directing the babies under that while you fill things up.
My question is are you going to be upgrading to a veg chamber or are you just going to run a full cycle? By full cycle I mean seed to harvest.
Personally I have two Chambers going one vegetative and one flower.
Excellent job in being able to be self-sufficient. Definitely worth the vote here!
So far i've just done a single plant at a time for the full cycle, because i only work with autos, 18/6 light cycle from start to finish, only thing changes id the distance of the light from the plant, takes a lot of lst to stop them getting to tall. i am going to start another one halfway thru this time to see if i can have a plant ready every month an half
Wow yeah that's to me a huge amount of extra and wasted energy.
I don't do the full cycle thing. Especially not for a single plant.
However I mean it's going to take a lot of scrolling for you to get to my last grow. Think I was up to 30 some odd strains before I started losing varieties.
However cloning is the best. Absolutely by far one clone can produce thousands of pounds for me. As well as the propagated into thousands of clones.
One year I was gifted more than 5,000 plugs for giving away clones. Let's just say at $10 a piece that's $50,000 in one year.
However the medical patients in the area were able to establish a top level indoor grow and produce clones for outdoor usage of premium name brand solid strains.
Personally I do not grow anything Auto. I don't have a problem with you growing it it's just not for me and I really don't prefer it and THC levels are super low... I'd rather grow a solid strain with high THC and solid genetics.
Blue City Diesel is very favorite of mine and when grown properly as quite a knockout punch. The mold mildew resistance for the Pacific Northwest growing is absolutely phenomenal as well.
Currently I'm smoking on some really nice LA confidential and I have some purple punch but all that's from the store.
Excellent content I can't wait to see further content from you as I'm now following you.
I keep telling people you can set up a little growing area for not very much money at all.
However the fact that you can grow your own cannabis and enjoy the entire process, I love it all other than the trimming part...
Thanks Ganjafarmer, i'll follow you back thatll make it easier to get a look thru your grows, my problems grow space that kinda keeps me limited to growing little autos for now, il progress up to photos when ive mastered the basics
Oh man you already have it down with the entire LST.
And you'd be amazed at the versatility of cannabis. I absolutely have done bonsai grows where it was just popsicle buds. We need to hang out and I can tell you some stories that will make you absolutely question everything about growing.
@cowboyblazerfan is a phenomenal grower. You got questions hit him up for sure. He's on some crazy growing show with a bunch of amazing people.
Just wait growing can adapt itself with versatility of this plant to all sorts of amazing uses.
Wow, that is what I call budget grow. 4 ounces for a harvest is not bad, especially since you go to the very expensive dispensary.
Only 2 ounces per harvest, ive had 2 single plant grows so far so 4 ounces total. thats why this time round im starting another one halfway thru, so i can use more of staggered sea of green growing model, thats the plan anyway lol we will find out if works. But you are right it saves me a fortune and theres no weed like your own weed.
Right on! I have the Ts1000 and love it. I only use it for seedlings now since I have upgraded to a bar style light. The $$ comes from up votes, and is determined on how much Hive power a person holds. The better the post, the better chances of it getting voted by a large account. Happy growing!
so hordeing hp and voting on peoples content is the best way to give back? good to know
LOL that's a good way to put it. I would suggest until you do have some HP to not vote everyone's comments here. This is because it is draining your function to navigate the site, like commenting, and posting. Once you have at least 500HP that is when you can start voting comments.
You got it!!!
