I finally had a chance to sit back, break nugs, roll one up, and check out the recent cannabis news stories - these four peaked my interest.
"Experience Illinois' first day of legal recreational pot in under 3 minutes" - Chicago Sun-Times
With reporters at multiple locations, Chicago Sun-Times chronicles the first day of Illinois recreational cannabis legalization - from the dispensaries before opening to the customers experience and their purchases. Out from the shadows, a breath of fresh air.
"Crossing the Indiana border for marijuana in Illinois" - WISH TV
Michigan and Illinois are currently the only mid-western states to allow recreational purchase of cannabis. Illinois legalized recreational cannabis recently but does not allow for public consumption - Indiana state police are warning that cannabis is still illegal in Indiana and that bringing it back to Indiana is not an option.
"Push to change marijuana laws in Indiana" - RTV6 The Indy Channel
With two bordering states recently legalizing recreational cannabis, there is a new push to legalize in Indiana. The current Indiana Governor is firmly against it, but Indiana NORML is going to try multiple angles and are asking citizens to contact their government officials to tell them they would like the laws changed.
"Could 2020 be the year Florida legalizes marijuana?" - 10News WTSP
Illinois was the 11th state to legalize recreational cannabis, the Gov. was quick to pardon 11k people with low-level drug offences. It's looking more and more likely that recreational cannabis legalization could happen in Florida, possibly 2020 - preemptively legislation (Bill#1342) is being put forward in Florida to expedite the potential sealing and expungement of low-level cannabis offences in Florida for if recreational legalization occurs. The legislation still has to make it through the state's Republican controlled legislature. The road to Florida recreational cannabis is still a long one but it's nice to see the legislative wheels turning in that direction.

Stay Tuned to @breaking-nugs for Cannabis News...
Once all these politicians realize how they can rape Americans in the form of cannabis tax, it will be legal very soon. Decriminalization seems like the best bet IMO.
It was funny last year to see some of the places that ended up legalizing it had already planned the cannabis tax income into the next year's budget :)
