Happy Friday to all my dear friends, I hope you are very well this weekend. Comrades in this case I have returned to share with you one more day, here you always learn something new, both me from you and you from the music news. And it turns out that we will see just that today, I'm going to talk about some music news that are very interesting, today is about a very famous singer from the United States, with emphasis on (very) haha. On top of that you can't miss my usual recommendation section, in which I will present you some of the best cards of the day in our beloved game Rising Star. With this in mind we can now begin.

Well folks today in music news I want to talk to you about something that has been on my mind lately, and that is Lady Gaga's new album, Harlequin. I don't know if you've heard anything about it, but the first thing I thought was: “Another Gaga album, now what? Is she coming back with something Chromatica style or maybe something more relaxed like Joanne?” But, no, guys, this is something completely different. I say that because it was a special and even a bit of a surprise release. The album was released this past September 27th, so it's pretty fresh. I was saying it was special because this album is accompanying or soundtracking the upcoming Joker movie, which will be called that but with Folie à Deux added to the name haha😅.

Besides that there is another important thing, sure you already know it but well there is always someone who is not aware, Lady Gaga will also play Harley Quinn in the movie. The truth is that this album is... peculiar, but in a good way. That's why I decided to tell you a little bit about it today, because I found it interesting.

In this case Gaga has decided to dive back into jazz, mixed with pop of course, but it feels much more in the vein of her previous albums with Tony Bennett, like Cheek to Cheek. In my opinion Gaga is going back to her roots so to speak, but with her own Harley Quinn-esque twist. I find it somewhat curious is that this album also seems to be like a tribute to Tony Bennett, as it is his first jazz album since he passed away. And this is where I'm left wondering: is it possible that Gaga has taken all that pain and channeled it into this album? And I think the answer is yes. If you look at the lyrics you can see that grief is present.

The album has 13 songs, and I'm telling you, even though it sounds very classic, like something out of an old movie (well, Joker in this case), it has that Gaga touch that makes it unique. For example, there are covers of super classic songs like Good Morning, That's Entertainment, and Oh, When the Saints. And of course, it got me thinking, do we really need more covers of those songs? Well, let's see, actually, I don't know if it was necessary, but Gaga has a way of making every song sound like something new, even if we've heard those tunes a thousand times before. It's like when you're told the same joke for the tenth time, but someone tells it in such an absurd way that you laugh all over again. Even if you don't pay much attention to me, in the end that's the beauty of music, that it's interpreted and covered.

In fact in my case I have liked much more versions of songs than their originals. There is always a singer who knows how to bring out the full potential of a song. In this case I think it's like that.

Among my favorites, I have to talk about World on a String. It's a song that has been covered by many artists, but this version has a relaxed vibe that surrounds you so to speak. Gaga nails it when she sings “Can't you see I'm in love?”. Seriously, you think she's in love, and even more so when you know that her fiancé, Michael Polansky, was one of the executive producers of the album. I'm amused to think that they're making jazz songs together while planning their wedding or whatever it is that super successful couples like them do. What a crazy thing to do, right?

But, well, not everything is a cover on this album. There are two original songs: Happy Mistake and Folie à Deux. Both are like the heart of the album I would say as they are full of chaos and vulnerability. This is where I think Gaga is more honest, more raw. Especially on Happy Mistake, which makes you feel like you're watching Harley grapple with her identity as she descends into madness. It's weird, but beautiful at the same time, like those moments when you don't know if you're sad or happy. And well, if there's one thing Gaga knows about, it's those complex emotions.

Harlequin is an album that is going to divide opinions, I'm sure of that. It's neither a traditional pop album nor a simple homage to jazz. It's a weird mix, like you're at a circus show, but also at a jazz bar at 3 a.m. Is it for everyone? Probably not, but if you like the unexpected, the chaotic and if you like the movie by the way, I think it's a very good choice. In my case I give it an 8/10. Friends, so with this we close the news section, now we move on to the most profitable cards of the day.
