I'm Yours: Jason Mraz - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

Good evening everyone!

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Un Poco de Amor Francés from the iconic argentine band Patricio Rey Y

I'm Yours: Jason Mraz

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is I'm Yours from the american artist Jason Mraz.

One of the reasons I am so passionate about music is largely due to my mother's influence on me since I was a child. I always remember that in the afternoons of the 2000s, she used to play music on some speakers she had and I would listen to it all over the house.

One of the genres I listened to most was Argentine rock, which is why I've become such a fan over the years. But I also used to listen to English rock and some pop songs from those years, by bands like Coldplay and The Killers.

Two years ago, I showed her the Spotify platform and paid for a subscription so that each of us could have our own account. So, over time, she created her own playlist of classics that she loved, also using Spotify's song recommendation tool. It's interesting that many of the songs on that playlist are also on my “Likes” list, so we share quite the same taste in music, at least when it comes to pop.

So recently, while we were testing Spotify on a new Smart TV we installed, we played one of its playlists featuring pop classics. That's how I ended up listening to a song that brought back a lot of nostalgia and memories from my childhood: I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. I have the feeling that I had also heard this song on the soundtrack of a children's movie.

Jason Mraz is an American pop, folk, and soul artist. In the late 1990s, he decided to start his musical career with the help of a guitarist friend named Toca Rivera, performing shows in bars and restaurants.

In 2002, one of his live performances caught the attention of Elektra Records, who signed him. That same year, he released his first solo album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which was quite successful locally thanks to the song The Remedy (I Won't Be Sorry).

I'm Yours was written in 2005 but only released in 2008 on an album called We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. It was one of the most successful songs of that year, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 76 weeks, which was a record at the time. It is also one of the most played songs of all time on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.
