Rising Star: Controlling the Ego

Although I have been playing Rising Star on and off for a year or so I have been playing it quite a lot over the last month, in that time my ego has been getting bigger.

Not me personally, obviously, but my in game fame is going to my head.

My in game ego had been hovering around 30% and I hadnt realised how much of an effect this had on my ability to earn Starbits from missions - apparently its 1% reduction per 1% ego 🫣

Ego is "earned" on every mission you do and the rate at which you gain it increases when you run the same missions over and over, which helps to make you run a variety of missions, but is also a representation of your skill compared to your fan base (i.e. loads of fans but not having the skills to back it up gives you a big ego that you need to live up to) so its best to try and keep that ego in check.

One way to keep your ego down is to take some music lessons to increase your skill, something I recently discovered was if i had concentrated on one type of instrument in the custom shop and when buying cards I would be in a better position now and earning more skill than I currently do for my top lesson.

Another way of trying to keep control of your ego is to find cards on the market with more Skill than Fans, there are a few out there, but i think concentrating on lessons will be the way I go.

The Rising Star FAQ gives you a comprehensive list of which instruments add to the skill reward for the music lessons so make sure you go for one type where possible.

You can put cards in storage to reduce your ego but that will also reduce your fan base and ability to earn starbits too.

Hopefully i can get my ego under control and when I'm not in music lessons I'll be in the Red Rave!
