I must admit that I usually don't watch the WNBA. I think that the game moves a little slow and most of the games are quite lopsided as the top half of the league is much more skilled than the other half.
With that being said, I watched last night and that game was actually really good.
Who Played?
Last night was game 2 of the WNBA finals in a shortened season and the Chicago Sky took on the Phoenix Mercury in Phoenix.
Chicago game into the game with a 1-0 series lead with the chance to pretty much put the series to bed if they would take a 2-0 lead back home.
What Happened
The game actually ended up going to overtime after Courtney Vandersloot tied the game with a few seconds left in regulation on a drive to the basket.
In overtime, the Phoenix Mercury took over the game as Diana Taurasi caught fire from three and Brittney Griner continued to finish shots in the paint to pick up 29 points on the night.
Takeaways
Well though there were some plays that were questionable for teams in the finals of their league (not looking at the ball and having it go by you on a pass), there were a lot of really nice plays.
There was great ball movement to get shooters open from the Sky and the Mercury were quite clutch down the stretch finding finishes in the paint.
It was quite fun to watch and brought a great intensity that we haven't seen in basketball for a few months now. The Suns and Trailblazers were there in the crowd supporting the ladies and the Mercury crowd was pretty electric down the stretch of the game.
I may find myself watching game 3 tomorrow, I'm pretty invested now. Check it out if you get the time, it's worth it!
Even duo am late here, bit it is pretty looking so good when it comes to the level of engagement right here
This is great one and it seems the giveaway is on already
Having WNBA posts on here would be a great thing I believe. You should continue posting these whenever you can haha.
On a slightly different note, I don't support getting real people muted but @jazzy07 seems like a spam bot. So could you please mute it? I am tired of downvoting its posts and my downvote power can't match the bots that upvote it. When you mute an account they are excluded from the reward distribution.
If you go to the New section on the tribe's frontend you would see what I mean, it literally looks like spam paradise.
I've downvoted a few times, I'll see if I can figure out how to tribe mute him
Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying in a comment a few days ago. I usually start on the 'New' page on the front end, and right now, you have to dig to find a 'real' post. Hopefully, with many more posts when the NBA season starts next week, this gets reversed. Muting is also a solution of course.
I agree it's usually a bit slow, with a team much stronger than the other. It's actually quite similar with soccer, one of the other sports I watch a lot. But whenever I catch a game (not very often I admit), I usually admire the strong technical skills and fundamentals. I watched a bunch of games during the Olympics, and they were quite good.
In the finals, at least we know it's two top teams. If I'm home tomorrow night, I'll try and have the game on, even if I don't watch very closely.
I didn't catch the game yesterday because I was watching the NFL game, but if you watched it I hope you enjoyed!
I'm pretty sure game 3 is tonight at 9pm, on ESPN2. Still not sure I'll be able to watch it though, probably just a few bits and pieces.
