The village of Zherka is located on a plateau in the eastern part of the Rhodope Mountains. From my brief conversation with a local who came to see his father's house, the village was founded around 1650. In its heyday, the village was home to about 180 people. Among the people in this area there is a story that the village has fallen into disrepair due to uranium research. However, the opinion of my interlocutor is that the time of this type of village has simply expired. Unfortunately in the distant 1985 the last inhabitant left Zherka. Despite the devastation, Zherka has
especially charm, and the landscapes of the high plateau on which it is located are incredibly beautiful.I present to you some of the best photos I managed to take.
Please enjoy.
This was the village of Zherka. I deliberately did not write hundreds of words in an attempt to describe the situation in this extremely beautiful, albeit empty village. I hope I managed to recreate through the lens part of the emotion I experienced walking along the narrow cobbled streets.

This is so cool. There is so much history in this place and I love the trees.
So the place is unique and has incredible energy.
Hello! What a pity that no one takes advantage of this landscape every morning, at the same time I contradict myself and think that if it were not abandoned, its beauty would not be the same.
What a charming place, it's so crazy to think that the world must be full of those corners.
Thank you for sharing it, the photos transmit a lot.
Greetings!👋
Daiana.
