From Amsterdam, we took a 45-minute train ride to Rotterdam, where we boarded a Watertaxi that took us to a station near the Kinderdijk Windmills. From there, we decided to continue the journey by bike. I had planned for days to be there right at sunset, which was what I most wanted to see. Although the forecast predicted rain (something common in the area), I wished with all my might for a clear sky to enjoy that moment. And so it was.

Desde Ámsterdam, tomamos un tren de unos 45 minutos hasta Rotterdam, donde abordamos un Watertaxi que nos llevó a una estación cercana a los Molinos de viento de Kinderdijk. Desde allí, decidimos continuar el viaje en bicicleta. Había planeado durante días poder estar allí justo al atardecer, que era lo que más deseaba ver. Aunque el pronóstico indicaba lluvias (algo común en la zona), pedí con todas mis fuerzas un cielo despejado para disfrutar de ese momento. Y así fue.

I had never witnessed anything so impressive before: a path surrounded by windmills, a meadow that stretched out as far as the eye could see, the river silently but joyfully carrying the heavy load of the windmills, the vibrant green of the facades, and my skin caressed by a soft, warm light that illuminated every corner of my being.

Nunca antes había presenciado algo tan impresionante: un sendero rodeado de molinos de viento, un prado que se perdía a la vista, el río, sosteniendo en silencio pero con gozo la pesada carga de los molinos, el verde vibrante de las fachadas y mi piel acariciada por una luz suave y cálida que iluminaba cada rincón de mi ser.

In that moment, I felt a profound mix of love and joy. The landscape enveloped me, warmed me, speaking to me through colors and scents.
