Snorkeling with a green sea turtle.

G'day Hive!!
I would like to continue my turtle photo journal from our recent trip to Lady Elliot island, the most southern point of the Great barrier reef.

It is turtle nesting season and the shore of the island are full of sea turtles!

Lady Elliot island is ideal for the green sea turtle to nest on. For some reason the logger heads go to the main land of Australia to nest.
The female green sea turtles will return to the same beach where they were born to lay their eggs

While I was out snorkeling one morning it doesn't take long to run into a green sea turtle.

These turtles are so chilled! It really is something special when Tlthey will just let you swim along side them when they come up for air

And dive down to the bottom so they can feed on the algae and sea grass below.

1000015871.jpg

Green sea turtles can grow up to 1.2 meters and weigh up to 190 kg!!

1000015874.jpg

The green sea turtle is the second largest turtle with the leather back turtle being the largest of all the turtles

1000015863.jpg

Green sea turtle can live up to 70 years old.

1000015869.jpg

I wonder how old these turtles were? Some had a couple of large barnacles on them.

1000015866.jpg

This one turtle had a flute fish mate that was swimming with him.
Which was really cool to see.

While I was swimming along with this turtle.

She started to rub her back legs and the all of a sudden....

1000015899.jpg

She did a massive poo hahaha so I Swam away with the quickness

1000015900.jpg

How good is this cheeky fish photo bombing the turtle haha

1000015864.jpg

To be honest these damsel fish try and attack you. They don't have much of a bite but it is a bit scary when your just snorkeling around minding your own business then all of a sudden one of these fish come out of the coral and try and start a fight with you.

But in reality they are just protecting their family.
And their bite don't hurt.

I took all this shots on my DJI Action 4 camera.
I hope you like them 🙂
Stay tuned for more photos from Lady Elliot island!

It sure was amazing swimming with these turtles 🙂

I'm so envious of people who can swim because imagine seeing such beauty while snorkeling, what a very nice photographs

I hope you get the opportunity to learn to swim one day. It is so beautiful under the water!

I really want to swim because not only it's a survival skill, but I bet it's also fun. hopefully soon when I finally have a stable income to support my needs and satisfy my wants, I would really love to have a swimming lesson
