Good morning, everyone!
It's Monday again and once more I realised I spent the whole week always thinking about posting... but without actually doing it. 🤪
Since many of you seemed to like my photos of Amarante, today I'm sharing some more.
The first photo is the terrace from the S. Gonçalo Café/Restaurant. This is a spot the locals enjoy very much, since it's located on an outside plaza right next to the river. People come here more to talk about life than to eat or drink... The cup of coffee is just an excuse to sit down among friends and chat for a few moments. Or hours. 😎
The café/restaurant takes its name after the church you see on the photo, the Church of S. Gonçalo.
This is also a nice spot to enjoy the views over the Douro River, as you can see below. From here, you can see not only the river but also the other side of the town. Such a lovely sight! 🤗
A few meters ahead you find a museum dedicated the local artists. But the main focus is an artist from the beginning of the XX century: Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, who died with just 30 years of age, in 1918. Check out his Wikipedia page to know more about the artist and see a few of his works.
There's a small garden in front of the building where - right in the middle of it - you can find a statue of Joaquim Pereira Teixeira de Vasconcelos, known as Teixeira de Pascoaes, his artistic name. He was a local poet from the XX century - a bit more lucky than Amadeo, as he lived quite a long life, having died at 75 years old.
The entrance of the museum is very cool, with a lovely mural in the style of his works. This is a nice piece of advertising which grabs your attention from a distance. 😎
The building is not tall and thus, the top of the church can be seen behind the building, which gives it a nice touch.
I think Amarante is a strange city with a lot of buildings with different sizes, shapes and styles all next to each other. The city has obviously started and expanded without any planning whatsoever, which is quite common in Portugal. Most of our large cities are like this. This can be a little confusing for outsiders as it's quite easy to get lost in these labyrinthic streets. Nothing that a modern phone with GPS can't solve. 🤭
I hope you liked these photos. Please leave a comment below. See you all tomorrow!

hahaha - your intro sentence to this post really caught me! My first thought was, "Gosh, he is crying about the week of just thinking about posting but actually not doing it, and what would I say about my marathons of just thinking and non-posting among which only the last one is a month-long!?!"
So, however you turn it around, my dear @Trincowski, in my eyes, you are The Man; you are The Winner; you are a success, and you are even one of my role models!!!
Regarding your always interesting and excellent photos, accompanied by nice words of a story and/or explanations that bring us more insights about where they have been taken and what they represent, I don't have anything new to add, except maybe that you always make me feel like walking around with you and listening what you have to say, like with my very own personal guide.
Wow, a whole month? We need an anti-procrastination pill! Where are they sold?
Thanks for your sweet comment. I'm happy to have that kind of feedback about my posts. 😊
(Well, since you haven't any post in a while, I'll just upvote your comment instead.)
LOL - I'm searching for that store with anti-procrastination pills also! 🤣
Really nice to see those images, looks like Brazilian architecture and vibe

this is a picture from the internet of a city called Rio Pardo in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, just to exemplify what I meant 😏
Indeed, that could well be in a Portuguese village somewhere! Very similar!!! 😄
Thanks for dropping by!

really the picture you share looks very beautiful
The place is so beautiful. I love the structures and the environment. I don't know if it's peaceful here but I sensed it. By the way, do you seem busy these days?
Yeah, I have been doing other things... and then I forget to make new posts. 🤪
Thanks fort showing around.
That wall on the first photo belongs to the church?
Older photos or made recently?
No, the church is only that building on the top right of the frame.
These are recent, one month old or so.
Thanks for your visit and comment. 😎
Is the wall part of an old city wall?
Loved the view (photos)
Dang man, you got some really nice shots. What are those event looking signs advertising in the cover image?
Current and future museum exhibits.
I'm glad you like these.
