Kamarela, what a place!

This is a post I've been looking forward to share with you and finally now is the time! It is from our island hopping tour this fall and it is at a tiny little island called Antikythira. Tiny means indeed tiny, it has less than 20 inhabitants. The landscape is wild and apart from a few meters beach and a small port, the rest of the seaside is unapproachable.

In the western part of this steep coastline, there is beach, a place of pure earthy beauty where the rocks and the sea confront each other sometimes in a mild way but mainly in a wild way.

Locals consider it the gem of their island and it is indeed a powerful site full of energy.

Can you spot @fotostef in the photo below? He has become one with the landscape :)

There is a path, or better said a stairway, going down to Kamarela.

Markos, as usually in new places, had lost any control :) This terrain is his favorite and he is very good at it as well. I couldn't get a photo of him climbing on the cliff but in the one below you can see his naughty look and the spark in the eyes! Of course, he got up and down a few times before I actually reach the sea level :)

Already having a taste from above.

Outside the bay of Kamarela the sea is deep blue and I am peeping through this cave.

The beach is like a setting from another planet. The combination of grey and yellowish rocks, the fallen stones create a alien scenery.
We spent some time there taking photos and wandering.

Walking a bit further on big rocks, there is a second bay. I don't know what you think, but I find it breathtaking!

The different shades of the sea and the light getting softer as the sun was getting ready to set.

This exit gives you a sense of freedom.
Just looked for it on Google maps, if we could see land that would be Malta, but this is very very far away :)

What a place indeed. Today was raining all day, so you can imagine how much I envy you 😂 and yes, I can spot fotostef in the photo :)

Haha, I should have put a prize for that :))

If it helps, it is raining here too, I guess that's why I wanted to mentally travel back to that warm day :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank you so much for your support dear @ackhoo and @qurator :)

This place must be famous. I think I saw it in pics somewhere else in the past as well.

It is the most famous place of the island, but the island itself is definitely not a destination and not famous at all, even for Greeks. I guess you have seen it on @fotostef's post :) What a memory :))

very beautiful place mate, with perfect shot.
i like it mate :))

Thanks so much @asklanbudi! Glad you liked it :)

thanks again buddy @traisto :))

And yet this island is famous... if I'm not mistaken, I don't want to Google it, because I like to be wrong if my memory fails me.
I read a long time ago about a device resembling a clockwork, metallic, that was discovered on an ancient sunken ship near the island. Thousands of years old! I think that's about what my Roman colleague who commented here heard about.

I like the photo of Stefanos and Markos.
From what I can see of the island, I miss the trees. I would like richer vegetation. I must be talking nonsense... it's probably impressive if you're out there on the rocks!

Of course! The Antikythira mechanism, you are absolutely right! Which is indeed a mechanism found in a shipwreck close to the island, doesn't have to do anything with the island, but made it famous by taking its name :) That's life, some become famous by luck, haha!

No trees on this place:( Unfortunately, one of the few inhabitants is a shepherd and the goats are totally free and uncontrolled. They have ruined all vegetation. It would have been dreamy otherwise!

I think it's okay that the island has benefited from this fame to which it has no contribution. It was in the right place at the right time.

I never imagined that goats could make such a problem with vegetation. If shepherds had kept bees the situation would be different, wouldn't it?

It was in the right place at the right time.

Ahahaha! Definitely!

If shepherds had kept bees the situation would be different, wouldn't it?

This is how it should be, but reality often exceeds logic and imagination. In this case, the shepherd and the beekeeper is the same person... Sometimes I realize there is no hope, but I try to forget it and look at the bright side even if it's only in my mind :)

Even if it's only in your mind, the bright side is so beautiful!

Oh yes :))

So beautiful, I could hear the sea as I looked at your photos. I would love to rest on some of those rocks right now. xxxxx

Thank you so much @trucklife-family! An amazing place, if I could add the sound too, it's a very intense place with strong energy! I would love to be there for a while as well :)

beautiful rock formation around the island. When I saw your first photo, I have a feeling of something but I couldn't name it. Until I read further into your post, yes that's the sense of freedom, of discovering something and grateful to witness this wonderful landscape. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you so much @dora381 ! Yes, the feeling of first witnessing a place like this is liberating! It's great that you can sense things so intensely :)

Hello my friend! 😊

That shot with the net and then the close-up one next to it of all the different coloured stones made me wish we were close by so I could get a few of them to be part of our rock wall around our gardens, they'd be pretty additions to them for sure. All the dogs lovers out there will feel the absolute happiness coming off of Markos in your shots when they see this post. 😊

What a beautiful spot to visit, thank you for taking me along with you, so I could enjoy the views as well. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

Thank you so much @frostyamber! All dog lovers wish our dogs run free and have this happy face, you are right!
A wonderful place, glad you enjoyed it!
Have an awesome day and enjoy!

Oh the colour of the water is insane! How warm was it during fall?

Sea at fall has the sweetest temperature and feeling! Having collected all the summer heat, it's more than pleasant! Quite warm, but not too warm cause it's an open sea, ideal :) Now is the hardest time, right after the snow has melted :))
The colours were insane as you say!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
