Abeland - a farm village of crafts and art

A couple months ago, we took our kids to the Abelanad farm village, which is located near a small town of Lozorno (Slovakia). To be honest, I started writing this post the very next day, but I ended up being so busy that its publication was "slightly" delayed :)

Abeland is a private family farm, but in the spring and fall it is open also to the public, usually on Saturdays from 10am until sunset. The entrance fee is voluntary.

As you might have already guessed, the farm village of Abeland is an attraction mainly for children, especially those who grow up in cities. In addition to the various domestic animals, which are basically freely accessible, the kids can also familiarize themselves with various farm works and crafts.

Pred pár mesiacmi sme sa s deťmi vybrali do gazdovskej dedinky Abelanad pri Lozorne. Aby som sa priznal, tento príspevok som začal písať hneď na druhý deň, ale nakoniec som mal toľko práce, že sa jeho publikovanie "mierne" oneskorilo :)

Abeland je rodinná usadlosť, ktorá je na jar a na jeseň vždy v sobotu otvorená aj pre verejnosť, zvyčajne od 10 ráno do zotmenia. Vstupné je dobrovoľné.

Ako ste už asi uhádli, gazdovská dedinka Abeland je atrakciou hlavne pre deti, špeciálne tie, ktoré vyrastajú v mestách. Okrem rôznych domácich zvierat, ku ktorým je v podstate voľný prístup, sa tu môžu deti oboznámiť aj s rôznymi gazdovskými prácami a remeslami.

This is a bridge, which is the entrance to the village. The chickens roam freely here, but from my own experience I have to say that getting close to them is difficult... they just run away from people :)

Toto je most, ktorý je vchodom do dedinky. Sliepky sa tu voľne potulujú, ale z vlastnej skúsenosti musím povedať, že dostať sa do ich blízkosti je o to ťažšie... pred ľuďmi utekajú :)

There are several small typical houses in the village...

V dedinke je niekoľko malých typických domčekov...

... including an old water mill, with a flock of geese roaming freely around it.

... vrátane starého vodného mlynu, popri ktorom sa voľne potuluje hejno hús.

Just a little further are the pens with goats and sheep. They are obviously used to visitors and will immediately come to welcome you.

Len o kúsok ďalej sú ohrady s kozami a ovcami, ktoré sú na návštevníkov zjavne zvyknuté, takže vás hneď prídu privítať.

Children who are not afraid of their fingers can put a piece of an apple or carrot straight into the mouth of a sheep or goat :) Yes, this is one of the few places where you can also feed the animals (with something reasonable).

Deti ktoré sa neboja o prsty môžu dať ovečkám a kozičkám aj kúsok jablka alebo mrkvy rovno do pusy :) Áno, toto je jedno z mála miest, kde môžete domáce zvieratá aj (niečim rozumným) nakŕmiť.

The cow grazing a little further away did not show much interest in the carrots and apples.

Krava, ktorá sa pasie o kúsok ďalej, o mrkvy a jablká veľký záujem nemala.

Flowers and pumpkins... I guess that was supposed to be some sort of decoration.

Kvetinky a tekvice... to asi mala byť nejaká dekorácia.

You will also find a pottery workshop here, where little craftsmen can see how plates, bowls, cups, etc. are made.

Nájdete tu aj hrnčiarsku dieľňu, v ktorej si môžu malí remeselníci pozrieť, ako sa vyrábajú taniere, misky, šálky, atď.

Motivated visitors can also help with farm work, for example with dry corn for the chickens and geese.

Motivovaní návštevníci tiež môžu pomôcť s gazdovskými prácami, napríklad so suchou kukuricou pre sliepky a husy.

For those who get tired of the farming part, there is also a children's playground and many other attractions. And for those who are hungry, there is a buffet with excellent home-made food.

Pre tých, ktorých gazdovstvo omrzí, je tu aj detské ihrisko a množstvo ďalších atrakcií, pre hladošov zase bufet s výborným domácim jedlom.

To conclude, I have to say that we spent a nice day here and we would definitely like to visit this place again.

Na záver musím povedať, že my sme tu strávili jeden pekný deň a určite sa sem niekedy znovu radi vrátime.
