Shoveling snow using traditional methods.

A few kilometers from where I live, we have a house that we don't use and haven't rented out for a long time. The house doesn't have a roof, so when it snows, the snow accumulates on top. After the snow melts, it turns into ice, which eventually damages the exterior and concrete of the house. Therefore, as soon as it snows, we need to clear the snow away from the roof.

The house is quite large. There's about 60-70 cm of snow accumulated on the ground. Snowplows need to be lightweight and durable. Using heavier tools requires more effort. To shovel snow, you first need to clear a path – either from the front, the middle, or the sides.

Ev oldukça geniş. Yerde birikmiş yaklaşık 60-70 cm kar var. Kar küreme aletlerinin hafif ve dayanıklı olması lazım. Ağır aletler olunca daha fazla güç harcamak zorunda kalıyor kişi. Karı küreyebilmek için önce bir cephe, ortadan veya kenarlardan bir yol açmak lazım.

Scooping from the edges requires less energy and effort, and is more practical.

I finished one side of the house, now I'm working on the other. The downside of shoveling snow is that it takes a long time and it's cold. Even though it's sunny, the temperature is below 0 degrees. I started this job at 11:30 and finished around 15:00. Except for a few short breaks, I didn't take a break. When I had about 25% of the job left, one of the neighbors came to help. I thanked him very much for his thoughtfulness and help. In neighborly relations, help is usually reciprocal. If he helps you today, the next day when he needs help, you help him.

Saat 11:30'da başladığım bu iş saat 15:00 civarı bitti. Bir kaç dakikalık dinlenmeler dışında işe ara vermedim. İşin %25'lık kısmı kalınca komşulardan biri yardıma geldi. İnce düşüncesinden, yardımından dolayı kendisine çok teşekkür ettim. Komşuluk ilişkilerinde yardım genelde karşılıklıdır. Bugün o yardım edince ertesi gün onun bir işi olunca sen yardım ediyorsun.

Nowadays, shoveling snow with traditional methods is difficult. Technology has advanced, and there are easier solutions. Building a roof is one solution. We sometimes postpone building a roof due to certain plans or economic problems. The house is heated by a stove. I'm thinking of installing a stove later. It would feel great to cook potatoes and chestnuts on the stove after shoveling snow.
