I have been so busy lately that getting out to shoot photos has been very hit and miss. Then even after I get out it has been tricky finding the time to edit and post what I have been able to do. Yesterday was a nice change from that though and I was able to get out for a really fun shoot and even had the time to get the photos ready!
This is an abandoned house that I has visited in the past and knew would be great for some light painting! The house has no public information available on it and doesn't even have an address anymore. It sits in the middle of a field surround by forest. My estimate on a built date is mid to late 1800's, which several local explorers agree with. The age of the house, how hidden away it is and the damage to it (all windows and doors broken etc.) makes it ideal for what I wanted to do!
These first two shots were done by walking through the house with my light, changing the RBG settings for each section and then with just white.
Then a friend of mine hung out of the bathroom window on the second floor and spun steel wool with magnesium strips. This is typically something I would never do at an abandoned house because of the fire hazards, but it is covered in snow solving most of those problems.
After a little bit of brainstorming on how to achieve it, we combined the light painting and steel wool. He opted to merge the photo of spinning from the bathroom window and the photo with multiple colors together in editing to achieve it. I like to do my shots in camera as much as possible, so he spun steel wool out front while I light painted in the second floor of the house.
This shoot was exactly what I needed and the photos turned out great! I will be posting photos of the house in the Urban Exploration group very soon!
Light Painting is a really nice art. Well done!
Thanks!
The light shows in the photos are amazing
The beauty of every photo is its light. In a way, it can be said that playing with lights is amazing. Great
WOW these are all such fantastic and creative images, great to read how you achieved them
