For this weeks post, I actually manages to remember to get out and get some new photos, it was a foggy grey morning and I parked down by the port, but as I mentioned in a post earlier this week I saw some art and took a stroll to find more of it, and on the way past by a few shots downtown here in New Bedford in the historic whaling district.
Speaking of Whaling I still have not visited the Whaling Museum, with the grandkids being off school for summer break I should see if they are interested in visiting that r another museum here, but I have as I tend to do wondered off subject so back to the shops
Starting with the CO Creative Center, not sure what they do or sell and I didn't even cross the road to look in the windows and find out

I love the downtown area of New Bedford! It isn't overly fancy, but, has some really nice historical features. There aren't that many good whaling villages/towns left along the East Coast, many places opt to go the route of progress which can be great on one hand, but, there is a lot to be said for hanging on to a little bit of the history. Especially the old buildings, full of history and charm. Plus, they just don't build like that anymore.
I like the door leading to an upstairs office or store, or sometimes even an apartment. It was how they built towns yesteryear. The owners lived upstairs and the store was downstairs. It made running it easier, having access to it that way. The cozy crib is its own place now. Making extra money on renting the places out separately.
That bugs bunny mural was interesting. I thought perhaps it was a mural operation or a business of that kind. Nope. Not at all. :) I have no idea, but, New Bedford has a ton of murals! I want to thank you for your support for #MarketFriday! It is always a pleasure to come and see where you are taking us!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
I personally think its a shame when places let go of their history all together and am glad New Bedford has made an effort to not only show but perhaps embrace its history
I agree! Now all we have to do is find a tailgate to put in your backyard! A junkyard run!
👍🙂👍
I like that bench! What a cool way to repurpose a tailgate.
Yeah isnt it awesome I would love that or something similar in my backyard
Pickup tail gate bench is awesome 🙂 and the Union Flats seafood company looks like its worth a closer look
