Early morning on East Beach

Good Morning today I will share a few shots from an Early morning walk on East Beach here in New Bedford

a little about the beach

East Beach is a wide, sandy beach located on the western shore of New Bedford Harbor off East Rodney French Boulevard.

It is a very popular summertime destination offering views of Butler Flats Lighthouse, fishing boats, and sailboats on Buzzards Bay and of course sand and water for a nice beach day, it gets packed on nice summer days
The beach features two outdoor volleyball courts, lifeguards (seasonal) and you probably knew that already if you follow me as I always take shots of the lifeguard stands when I visit there.

Online it states the beach also has a first aid facility, which I guess is in one of the small buildings on the beach and also has out door showers, restrooms,
A fishing pier is present at the end of the beach , though only catch-and-release fishing is permitted.

Starting with a shot as I first entered the beach, I had parked in Fort Taber, as there is no parking on the road by the beach at this time of year, and although there is beach parking across the road, the gates to it are locked in the early morning when I go there

That shot gives a good idea of how wide sandy and long the beach is

for the last couple of years the beach was home to piping plover chicks, an endangered species, marking a significant event for the city, who manages the beach, and when they are nesting they fence off the area to protect them

The beach is clear now and all available for use by beach goers

Most days I am out I have the beaches and trails to myself until after the sun rises, but this morning there were a couple of people enjoy the beach and the sunrise
