Car show series hoods up
Good Morning all, as is my habit on Saturdays I am sharing some shots of car shows I visited this year, and today some more from a 60s themed night in the historic district here in New Bedford. it was a cool event as not only did so many cars turn up for people to see but they had a few vendors in spots around the streets as well as three spots where live music was being played, but I didn't stay too long as it got quite crowded and I really do not like crowds, yeah I know you can feel free to call me anti-social LOL
For this week I am sharing another series of cars with their hoods up

Some have asked why some have the hoods up in car shows, and althought I am no expert on cars and apart from one exception most of my cars have bene pretty standard and nothing to show off,
But I believe it is because they are proud of the engine and condition under the hood

I wont say anything about the cars just let them talk for themselves

And I did mention that with one esception the cars I owned were pretty standard, the one exception as a Ford Capri I had back in the late seventies, when I was inthe NZ Army and saved enough to by an almost mew Car I loved it, and one time a friend of my brothers who was a mechanic the same as my brother asked me to bring my car over for a weekend and they would soup up the car a bit for me, free of charge, so I jumped at the offer

I droppe dit off to them on a friday night when I gto back to my home town from the army base, and on Sunday evening they said it would be ready to pick up

Well sunday Evening I heard this thunderous noise outside my parents hopuse and looked out and saw it was my Capri. imeediately noticed the hood had been modified and had a raised section and the tires lookeed fatter

I found out they had Done some work onthe engine, and added a turbo charger, then the power was to much for the transmission so that had swapped that out and added bigger wheels,
Now I suspect but never asked some or al of the parts had been come across by shady means ie Midnight autos as we used to call it then, as my brothers friend said now head back to your base and dont bring it back to twon for a few months.
WOW did that car fly on the drive back the power and the grip were amazing. I was kind of dissapointed that fter three months they said they would be taking out the turbo.

But as it happenned they never did, perhaps because the friend ended up being busted for buying stolen car parts and was in Jail, so I got to keep the car as is for three more years before I sold it

I hope the statue of limitations has ran out on your "borrowed" car parts 😂 I like the black Chevelle in the third shot and the Pontiac near the end. These cars take me back.
Ohh yes for sure it must have well over 40 years ago LOL

Beautiful Car
All the cars stand out. What i love about this types of cars is the durability.
yes so true they made them to last back then
Man some of those classics almost make me wanna get into restoring one of it wasn’t for the money and time! The Chevelle, ‘Cuda, like the Dukes of Hazzard!
Funny how seeing those with the kids popped is so much from other old cars which just look like they are experiencing engine difficulty and not displaying the engine!

Love this. I usually attend lots of car shows in my town too but I don't remember seeing any that has the hood opening in the opposite direction than the common way. That's pretty impressive!
