Halibut Ceviche by Eventide Oyster Company in Portland, Maine.
Eventide is our favorite restaurant in Portland, Maine. It is Eventide OYSTER Company so I always have a few oysters to start things off. The condiments are fun too. I chose Tabasco ice and horseradish ice, nice twist on classic oyster toppings.
Here's the oyster selection from the day we visited. All from Maine.
Next up. Tuna Tartare. Love those little slices of peppers on top. Plus my wife does like spicy peppers so I get twice as much 😊
Of course my wife is going to have some greens no matter where we go. An interesting umami-rich nori vinaigrette. Yum 😋
Since we don't get to the coast that often, I usually have some chowder anywhere it seems it would be good. And it was good! Whole steamed clams and chewy chunks of salt pork in a broth thats nice and light.
This was the most interesting dish and is unfortunately the worst picture 🙁 the bowl ruined the lighting. Scallop Waffle-Yaki with Tempura, Kabayaki, and Umami Mayo. Crazy and delicious.
But of course, its the awesome lobster roll that hooked us and keeps us coming back whenever we get the chance 🙂 the soft fluffy bun is more like a Chinese bao bun than the traditional hot dog bun.
If you ever end up in Portland, Maine I highly recommend Eventide 👍 Eventide Oyster Company Or I suppose you can cheat and sample their delicious fare in Boston at their second location near Fenway Park.
Your picture is really tempting
The food was delicious. Hard to take time for photos because we wanted to dig in 😊
Oh it seems a really good restaurant... For my next trip to Portland. I often went to Fore Street, it was really good. I wonder if that's still the case?
it would be worth a little trip 😀

Fore Street looks really good. We have got stuck on Eventide and aren't there often enough to really try out the local food scene.

Thanks for the support 🙏🙏
I have yet to eat another oyster after trying one once lol. Those look quite fancy, I would pick around the oyster and eat only garnish.
That first oyster is key... good experience and you are hooked, bad experience - never again
Mine kind of tasted like a mix of liver and muddy sand. Thus never again lol.
There are not nearly enough fresh seafood restaurants here in the Midwest! It all looks so delicious and I am terribly envious!
