These days, our village home terrace are getting too vibrant. Thanks to some luffa plant that reaches to the top. The plant vine grows extensively and blossoming with shining yellow flowers. Although it is one of the wild vine, still the flowers alwsys looks too attractive. This morning when I went to the terrace I could not resist myself from.snapping these besutiful flowers from all the angles.
What made these flowers more attractive were the early morning sunlight that falls on the petals of these plant. The luffa plant, also known as the sponge gourd or Chinese okra, produces both male and female flowers. The main difference between the two is that female flowers are attached to the gourd, while male flowers have a long stem.
The flowers grow into long, cucumber-like fruit. It is a fast-growing vine that requires lots of sun, water, and well-drained soil. Luffa plants have long vines that can grow up to 30 feet long, so they need a lot of room to grow or a sturdy trellis to climb. The fruit is ready to harvest when it turns from yellow to brown. Here are some of the picture that I have shot using my smartphone.
These flowers reminded me of one of my late aunty's, who often ask me to pluck the fruits. She was fond of eating them by making kind of chutney. There were alwsys a demand of these sponge gourd in my area. Let see how the fruits grow. During clicking picture, I ha e few guest too which were snapped. The vibrant yellow simply brighten up the days.
Peace !!

Beyond the beauty of the flower, I love to see the details of the insects... although I don't like insects, but ants have something special. Excellent pictures!
Luffa pahli baar suna hain bhai.
Waise phool dekh kar laga ki kaddu ka phool hain. In phool ki bhajiya bhi bahut tasty aur mazedaar hoti hain.

I have never seen a luffa plant as it's not a common plant here, but I'm planning to grow a few plants next year as those luffa sponges that I'm using are SO expensive. How many fruits do you normally get per plant?
I never count but they were in lot of numbers..enough that we feed the cattles with most of them. Is the spo ges are expensive...how much it cost, and cannu share me a pic?
I'm using this one for dishes, and I think I can use one piece for more than a month or even longer depending on if I cut it by accident or tear it somehow. But there are beauty products such as these or these too..
