Indian Spurge Tree - Bringing a touch of green to my day.

This particular plant has been growing on my terrace since long. We used to refer them as one of the species from cactus family. We never get closer to it because of prices/ spines . But often we see some thick green leaves and sometime little cute flower appearing on it. This time, the flowers started to blossom, I made sure to capture them.

This plant and its stem are in demand, as people in my villages had some superstion belief attached to it. With the stem very thorny, people consider that keeping them at the doorstep ward off the evil eyes 😈. I am not sure how true it is. And what else beliefs associated it, I am happy to keep sharing the plant stem whosoever asks for it.

This time while I was attracted towards the blossoming flower that covers the entire plant, I never cared for its details, not even know about the plant name. For us every thorny plant is cactus. But now I did some reseerch on the internet, to know about the plant details that grows so beautifully. The plant is known as Euphorbia neriifolia.

Euphorbia neriifolia, is a succulent shrub or tree that's native to Asia and is often grown for its ornamental and medicinal properties. It is also known as Indian spurge tree or hedge euphorbia, has many medicinal uses. It's used as a laxative, purgative, and expectorant, and to treat a variety of conditions. Here are few of the pictures shot using my mobile.

My Dad planted this, withbthe superstitious belief, but bow it grown too big. Even while trying to take flower picture, I got scratches. The plant is dangerous, but at the same time has many medicinal benefits as I read over the internet. Anyway, right now I am in awe with the beautiful flower.

“Life is like a succulent, full of pricks, but incredibly beautiful.”

In good faith - Peace!

It definitely looks like some kind of succulent. It seems quite healthy. I tend to kill plants when I try to take care of them, so you are doing better than me!

It grows naturally, I remember my Dad just sowed a stem of it, which now grown so big....I doubt whether these plants require much attention

Might be just the kind of thing that I could keep alive then!
