Three herbs - Macro photography

Lemon Balm is a new plant to me, just started growing it last year. And I was surprised to see how well it repels caterpillars during its first year next to the Kale. I plan on using the plant for some recipes in the future but for now I will just enjoy its nice scent and appreciate how it keeps insects at bay. Being part of the Mint family I will need to keep an eye on its growth, though where it is not a big deal if it spreads out more. Hoping as the Kale spreads out due to seeds being dropped so will the Lemon Balm and they can grow together giving each other good companion plants and happy garden neighbors.

Rosemary is another great herb to have around, you can add them to meat dishes or just enjoy the scent the leaves give off when handled. They are more of a Mediterranean plant than the Lemon Balm. Its quite hardy and does not require any care, and nothing really feeds on it either which is nice.

Mexican Terragon is another new addition to my garden, I bought some to help deter the troublesome caterpillars. We shall see next year how it works, though its smell is quite strong. I can smell it just standing near it. And looking closely at the leaves we can see the oils that form causing it to have a strong scent.

As the sun comes out the Lemon Balm perks up and seems to be quite happy with its location. It has spread out and I am happy with that as the area its growing is quite bare besides the Terragon, Rosemary and Kale. Its cool to see its little hairs all over the plant, touching them they have a slight furry feeling to them.
