Hello friends,
It's the first time I'm posting in this community, but from time to time I try to share my posts in other communities to interact with other people because I think it's a very nice and important thing here on Hive.
Today I wanted to share with you the weekend I spent with my dear friend Francesca, which we decided to organize at the last minute—or rather, she organized—a quick weekend on the island of Santorini. I had wanted to visit this island for quite some time, but some bad experiences of my friends had always made me a bit hesitant, so I had avoided going there.
I think it really depends on the time of year you visit these places; you should always try to avoid peak seasons. However, I must say I really liked this island, which is part of the Cyclades group. By the end of the trip, I truly loved the charming villages typical of the area.
You all know my passion for villages, so it was very exciting for me to spend some time here. After visiting it firsthand, I can say it's a very romantic destination. In fact, as I understood, many people come specifically to this island to get married, and they are absolutely right.
Of course, I also found a little cat that kept me company. Just like in many villages in Tuscany, there are many stray cats here, but they just want some cuddles and are very cute.
One thing I would probably avoid from a tourist perspective is the arrival of cruise ships because they really saturate the place and overwhelm the town, which isn't a good thing. As you can see from the photos, there were quite a few cruise ships, so I imagine most of them disembarked on the island.
Regarding the beaches, they vary a lot from white to black due to the island's volcanic origin, but one thing that remains consistently beautiful is its crystal-clear water, which is apparently very clean as it has blue flag status.
Honestly, I didn't take many photos during those days because I mostly let myself be enchanted by the place I was in. However, in the end, I changed my mind a bit about this place, and I must say that even though there is quite a bit of tourism, it's still a place worth visiting at least once in your life.
I hope you also have the chance to visit. See you in my next post, and sending lots of hugs to everyone.
