It seems that I really miss the mountains: trips and hikes, beautiful views and the purest mountain air... I often remember my first trip to Pakistan, where there was all this in abundance.
So today I decided to refresh my memory of this trip and show you some views of Mount Nanga Parbat and the surroundings of a place called Fairy Meadows with those photos that were not included in the series of posts that I did earlier on this trip. There are often more photos than even a long post can fit :)
Nanga Parbat is the ninth highest peak in the world (8126 meters above sea level), and one of the most dangerous to climb. The mountain is located in northern Pakistan in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Climbers have several routes to the summit from different sides of the mountain, and one of them starts near Fairy Meadows, a mountainous area that has become a national park, which is a picturesque pasture at an altitude of approx. 3300 meters above sea level
In Fairy Meadows, in addition to the Pakistani villages, not all of which are inhabited all year round, there are several tourist camping hotels that continue to expand. With truly fabulous scenery and great views of Nanga Parbat and other surrounding mountains, the place is gaining popularity.
From there you can go on a large one-day trekking (about 14 km one way with a climb of 1100 meters) to one of the Nanga Parbat Base Camps. There alpinists (who are going to climb to the top of the mountain from the side of Rakhiot) set up the main, base camp.
Trekking is not easy, but does not require any special skills, only good physical condition.
Most of the photos of today's post were taken during this trek, which took us almost 12 hours to go there and back (including several halts). The trail passes through the meadows, then through the forest, then some more meadows, then along the mountainside above the Rakhiot glacier.
The glacier itself is also an impressive sight!
It looks dangerous, but attracts the eye.
White in places, gray-brown in places, all cracked, it looks like marble. Only even colder :)

You walk and walk under the hot sun, and the wind and cold from the mountains pleasantly cool you down. The path above the glacier winds like a thin thread along the slope, and behind it, on the upper right, the majestic peaks of Nanga Parbat look out. I am writing about it, and everything seems to be resurrecting in my memory: how difficult it was, but how good!
To enjoy the scenery, it is not necessary to go to the end of this long track, you can only go through the first part of the path (about 6 km), which leads to the observation deck over the glacier (it is quite simple, without much climb), you can also just walk through the surrounding meadows and don't get bored. And everywhere it will be beautiful!
I remembered, and somehow immediately felt good in my soul. I hope you also enjoyed looking at these shots with me. That's what my photos are for, to help revive memories and give new dreams :) I'm looking forward to the next meeting with the mountains, and I hope this year something will happen.

Thank you for posting these! I know in North America, the media will never post anything beautiful form the middle east. We have friends from Pakistan that always tell us how nice it is there. Living in BC, Canada, these photos blow my mind that this is what Northern Pakistan actually looks like. Amazing!

Yes, for me the country was also a surprise, a pleasant surprise. Including landscapes, mountains. Politics and prejudice are not the best things... If the location you choose to visit in Canada is wide open--visit British Columbia. Vancouver and Vancouver Island are the most camera friendly land and cityscapes I have ever seen. I guess I am pretty bias though ๐ .
