📷 Khibiny Mountains

As I said, now we went to the north of Russia, to watch and photograph the winter. Well, not just winter, but something interesting and exciting. Like these landscapes.

This is the Khibiny Mountains - the largest mountain range on the Kola Peninsula. We are here now, this is exactly the place that I spoke about in one of the recent posts - the place where we were last year for just one day and where we wanted to return again. From this place our current little journey begins and here we will end it.

The Khibiny mountains are low, of plateau type, the highest point is Mount Yudychvumchorr, about 1200 meters above sea level, and those in the photo are even lower. There are many quite popular trekking routes here, as well as a ski slope.

Now we are not too lucky with sunsets and sunrises: the weather is mostly cloudy, and tonight there is snow and a strong wind, a blizzard. But on the other hand, we were lucky on the first night with the Northern Lights: the sky cleared up and we wandered along this valley in the mountain circus until 4 am and photographed Aurora above the mountains.

These photos are from last year's trip, but I hope that in a week, when we will come here before leaving for another day, the weather will please us a little not only at night, but also during the day :)
