Breccaschlund Panoramaweg “Panoramic Route of Brecca Gulch” is an easy, medium length hike in the western Foothills of the Swiss alps.
The main attraction is, as you might guess, Brecca Gulch. Formed by a long gone glacier, the protected nature reserve now features steep limestone rock faces and dense, almost primordial vegetation (in the lower areas).
The rest of the route offers lovely views of Schwarzsee (“Black Lake”), and romantic grassy hills littered with dry rock walls and majestic mountain maple trees, as well as the typical cow herds.
These are my favorite shots that resulted from that hike:
r/evilbuildings - Or just some protestant church that also happens to be the starting point of the hike if you exclude the cable car like we did.
Walking through this beautiful meadow with our path and the mountain where we'd turn around visible far in the distance was an awesome feeling.
This tree invited us to stay for lunch, and we accepted. We stayed for a while, enjoying the atmosphere.
Crossing this snow field on a steep slope may not have been the smartest idea, but we were too stubborn to turn around.
Made it - and worth it!
Looks like the result of a fisheye lens, but that's just how the raod curves there.

Absolutely idyllic. I wish I knew how to edit the photo to make it look like reality.
A small path through paradise.
And finally back at Schwarzsee - a beautiful end to a beautiful day.
For a lot more information about the hike itself and the best experience, see the corresponding hike report on my blog.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the pictures :-)
I love alpine settings, especially with meadows. Looks like a wonderful hike.
Are those drainage grates in the gravel road?
